STILLWATER – Oklahoma State hosted the University of Texas Friday afternoon for the first game of a best-of-three series in the Super Regionals making their fifth match-up of the season.

The Cowgirls came away victorious by the final score of 6-1 with all six runs being provided by two home runs from Alysen Febrey, a fourth inning solo shot from Hayley Busby, and a sixth inning 2-run bomb from Karli Petty.

The scoring got started early as Texas scratched a run across on an RBI sacrifice bunt from cleanup hitter, Taylor Ellsworth. This would be the Longhorns only run in the game. Oklahoma State got a couple of runs of their own in the bottom of the first on a Febrey 2-run home run to centerfield.

The Cowgirls did not score again until the fourth when Febrey and Hayley Busby hit back-to-back solo homeruns to make it 4-1.

That would not be the end of it for the Cowgirls as Karli Petty got in on the long ball action, launching a 2-run bomb of her own in the sixth inning to advance the lead to 6-1 over the Longhorns.

Carrie Eberle pitched a gem for the Cowgirls, throwing seven innings in 99 pitches with three strikeouts and only three walks. What was even better than Eberle’s performance was the defense behind her which committed no errors during the game and did not allow an extra base hit in the game. Reagan Wright also caught a Texas runner stealing.

Oklahoma State will play the Longhorns again tomorrow at 3:05 P.M. as they will attempt to sweep the series for a trip to the Women’s College World Series held in Oklahoma City.
