STILLWATER – Monday night was a busy one for all the Oklahoma State coaching and recruiting staff as their eyes moved back and forth a thousand times watching all of the prospects that made their way to Boone Pickens Stadium for ‘The Show’, which is the premier invite only camp consisting of the top prospects on the Oklahoma State recruiting board and prospect lists.

Pokes Report’s Robert Allen and I were in attendance through all of the events getting a look for ourselves and conducting some interviews with a good number of the prospects, varying from incoming seniors to incoming sophomores.

We will have a great deal of premium and exclusive content in the coming days, but this is a general recap of the events and some of the names to know at the camp.

The camp consisted of quarterbacks, wide receivers, and defensive backs and all of them showed off.

Pokes Report
Rangel and Cowboys quarterback coach Tim Rattay

2022 quarterback commitment Garret Rangel was on hand and was showing off the arm with some very impressive throws. There were some plays he made which Tim Rattay quickly reacted to with some loud clapping or some aggressive high fives with his future quarterback. Rangel was able to throw to Gilkey, a fellow commitment, and some of the top receivers in the area so the staff was able to get a good look at some possible future matchups.

Steele Wasel is in the running for top Oklahoma QB in 2023

Steele Wasel was also on hand showed off a very live arm to go with his ultra-competitiveness and fiery attitude. He has not been offered by the Cowboys yet, but I could see one coming now that the staff has seen him in person and gotten a good look.

Two other quarterbacks to keep an eye on from this camp are Bo Edmundson and Jackson Arnold, both of whom hold an offer in the 2023 class. Both camped in Boone Pickens tonight and showed off some arm big time arm talent. In-state 2022 quarterback Carson May was also in attendance and made some good throws.

Among the other receivers that were at the camp besides Gilkey, Cowboy star commit Braylin Presley, Broken Arrow’s Robert Spears-Jennings, AJ Wilson out of Huntsville, TX, junior Morgan Pearson out of Plainview (OK) and an Owasso 5-10 junior-to-be, Cole Adams, who stole the show. He caught everything throw at him, including several deep balls. We will have an in-depth article on Adams soon.

Pokes Report
Gentry Williams (L) and Luke Hasz (R)

Oklahoma State also welcomed in two in state 5-stars with Gentry Williams (L) and Luke Hasz (R). Williams did not compete but was hanging out with some of the recruits and talking with the coaches. Luke went through the testing and individual drills but did not compete in 1-on-1 drills after tweaking the hamstring a little bit. Gentry and the Cowboys have not had much communication as of late, but it was interesting to see him make the trip. Luke, like Gentry, has offers from just about everyone in the country. He recently took a visit to Columbus, Ohio, to visit the Buckeyes but said he enjoyed his time in Stillwater and will be back.

The defensive backs were the group that caught my eye throughout the whole night. The group they brought in was a special one, even though it was a bit of a younger group.

Pokes Report
Kobe Black will be a big time prospect in the 2024 class

One of the biggest names to know out this camp is one of that we’ve known for a while, and he happens to be the little brother of a current Cowboy. 2024 cornerback Kobe Black is the younger brother of Korie Black, a sophomore corner for Oklahoma State. Even though he is the little brother, he is already bigger than Korie and has a chance to be better in the long run. He is a very long and athletic prospect in the secondary and is one my favorite guys in the 2024 class right now.

Caimon Mathis and Demichael Porter are two younger guys out of Desoto who will get some attention and will see their recruitments take off quickly. Dylan Smith, the younger brother of 2021 signee Cam Smith was also on hand and showed off in the secondary at cornerback. He is not quite as tall or fast as Cam, but when you look at him, in the face, he is identical. He had some very good reps in the 1-on-1 period.

Pokes Report
Tabry looked really good as a TE against some of the top defensive backs

Everyone knows Oklahoma commit Talyn Shettron, but younger brother Tabry Shettron is the next big thing out of Edmond Santa Fe. He is currently 6’4 and 207 pounds, projecting as a tight end, and he showed some very good route running abilities and some good hands. Oklahoma State has not offered but I would say there is a good chance he picks one up at some point.
