Cowboys Offer Edmond Santa Fe Jumbo Athlete/TE Tabry Shettron
STILLWATER – I asked Tabry Shettron after “The Show” camp back on June 7 if he knew what he might be getting himself into being recruited by Oklahoma State. The actual older (by six months) brother of Talyn Shettron, as they were both adopted, is a tight end and close to his wide receiver brother that is ranked by several outlets as one of the top recruits overall in the 2022 class. Last fall, Talyn who was offered and recruited by a lot of schools, including Oklahoma State, committed to Oklahoma primarily over Oklahoma State, Notre Dame, and Texas.
“I do,” Tabry said of knowing the strangeness of the possibility of him being in Stillwater and Talyn being at OU. He then said, “Yes sir,” in saying he could handle that. I also saw his dad, Trevor, smiling and nodding behind Tabry when I asked him that question about potential Bedlam in the family.
It is a family that sure appears with the love and understanding in it and between the brothers, who also have a younger brother in Trace, that they could withstand the two older sons going to different directions for college.
Tabry doesn’t have the numbers at tight end that Talyn has, but the 6-4, 220-pound is very athletic and has proven time and time again that he is a definite Division I prospect. He ran well at “The Show” and is right in the upper 4.6 to 4.7 flat range in the forty. His basketball skills translate to the football field in the way of ball skills. Last season he 19 receptions for 176-yards and six touchdowns. The most impressive aspect of that is a touchdown for every three receptions.
He has offers from Kansas State and visited there, Air Force, Utah State, Texas State, Alabama-Birmingham, Tulsa, and the Ivy League trio of Penn, Dartmouth, and Yale.
Tabry Shettron said his interest in Oklahoma State is serious and he has had it for a long time, so I think the Cowboys can feel they have a solid chance here as they look to fill a slot for a Cowboy back in the 2022 recruiting class.
