Kawecki is Strong Lead-off but Cowboys May Need to Double Down on O-Linemen

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State was looking to break the ice this past week on offensive line commitments in the 2022 class as they had a select group of prospects come through for official visits in the last two weeks of the June quiet period that re-opened in-person recruiting. The Cowboys picked up a commitment from Austin Kawecki of Frisco (Lebanon Trail), Texas and that was a strong start.

I don't like the fact that a couple of newer Coaches in this league are trying to go "the SEC" route with recruiting because that was where they came from before they entered the Big XII as Head Coaches. I don't want see any of that garbage in this conference. I talked to a couple of HS coaches in Texas that are concerened about this.

No mention of Jacob Sexton nor Bray Lynch. Are we still in on them?

This is definitely worrisome to me. I know I read multiple times before Dickey was a great recruiter and I love the guy but it's not looking that way. It's still early to tell for sure but we have a really hard time landing dudes on the o line. I pray it doesn't happen but this class seems to have hit the wall it inevitably hits every year in recruiting. I was hoping the momentum was stronger but options running out across the board

I read last night that Andrew chamblee looks firm in his Arkansas commitment after his visit. Basically just used his visits because he could. Down to kelvin banks Jacob sexton and lynch. Kelvin banks acts like we don't exist in social media so I am guessing we are likely out on him. So fingers crossed for sexton and lynch other wise we are getting lower end projects.

I agree with you; Kelvin Banks never mentions OSU, and so think we are definitely out on him. Hoping Lynch and Sexton come through.

Feels a lot like last year chasing certain guys to the end then having to go find some guys last minute. Hopefully juco has a guy or two this year or the portal.

sheesh..... it's not even freaking July yet, and you guys are acting like it's 3 days before signing day.

for goodness sakes - I can't remember a year where we've have this many quality kids this early in the recruiting cycle.

We are talking o line specifically. We know we have a good class right now. We are just talking sports. If you don't like our comments please refrain from reading them.

good lord... if you don't like my comments, then refrain from reading mine.

how old are you? my goodness.

2nd verse same as the first.... Oline recruiting follows the same trajectory as class recruiting. In fact, it's a key part of the class because of the number of players taken annually for the OLine.

Instead of getting all pissy, how about you show me where we usually have most of our OLine recruits committed before July. I'm open to being corrected.

Definitely not pissy cali. I am 31. You just seem to have a problem when people say anything that's not absolutely positive and it bothers you enough to comment about it. Just figured and some point you would ignore it. We know we have a good class. Specifically the online recruiting has not been very good since Henson left. Most importantly tho I was talking with another guy in a civil manner about the subject. I don't need to show you anything I would rather you just stay out of it. You put out bad vibes man. 2021 class - we had ONE guy committed before July (we ended up with a lot of transfers) (including the JUCO and the transfer Center both of whom we're counting on to start this season)

2020 class - we had three committed before July (one of them Trent Pullen is already gone) Bennet and Russ are the other two. Mills and Sills came in the class after July.

I'm not looking up any more.

It's waaay too dang early to panic about the Oline. and the lack of on campus visits significantly impacted recruiting this year. Kids just recently started visiting schools in person.

no facts... huh.... sigh.

read my recent post and Dickey's 2020 and 2021 class... and I totally disagree with our OLine recruiting since Henson left. Henson's guys aren't starting... kids we brought in since will make up most of our starters this year. (Transfers).

It's a whole new world.

in 2018 Henson brought in 5 kids (Bray and Farrell have both transferred) 2 of them signed just before the season started.

in 2019 Henson went 4 for 4 with offers in June and accepted in June.

The transfer guys that Dickey brought in have for the most part beaten the Henson guys out as starters.

Ok cali. These are the guys Dickey is responsible for.
Class of 2021- Caleb ettiene-.8560 quality mid 3 star. Great size but unproven at this level. Logan nobles-.8485 low to mid 3 star. Long term project. Silas Barr-.8181 low 3 star and long term project. Danny godlevske-.83 low 3 star experience but unproven at this level.
Class of 2020- Trent pulled-.8743 gone Eli russ- .8722 Henson recruited him Charlie Dickey just had to get him to hold on.long term project. Cade Bennett-.8613 mid high 3 star kid. Long term project. Monroe mills-.8377 low 3 star long term project. Josh sills stud muffin but not highly ranked. So if we look at that coupled with the fact that we offered 23 total o line guys and have 1 committed and a small chance to land the other 3 left on the board overall it doesn't look good. The hope is to land quality high school kids and not have to resort to the portal or juco kids. So cali cowboy my point is ex's what I said. Charlie Dickey doesn't seem like a great recruiter. Not saying he is trash or our class sucks. Saying he does not look like a GREAT recruiter. Nothing about what he has brought in has been GREAT. We have missed out on close to all our o line prospects in this class so again like I said WORRISOME. So idk why I had to explain all that but there you go.

IDK either, I already said all of that, and I reached the opposite conclusion.

you can claim "marginal this" or "marginal that", or "project" or "not the goal"... but the fact remains that Dicky's kids have started over Henson's, and this year most likely it will be 3 of the 5 OLine spots with Dicky's kids.

I don't look much at stars, or somebody else's opinion on "quality", I look to see who is starting. Anything said beyond that doesn't seem to carry much weight.

How in the world can his "recruiting be worse" if his recruits are starting over the other guys?
