Oklahoma State Representatives for Big 12 Media Days Announced
Even though it will be a smaller contingent of players than in year’s past, the Big 12 announced the players who will represent each school at Big 12 Media Days Next week. For Oklahoma State, it’ll be quarterback Spencer Sanders and linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez.
And of course, head coach Mike Gundy.
When you really break it down, these two players are the face of their respective side of the ball. Spencer is going to be the starting quarterback going into the 2021 season and Malcolm is a returning senior who’s been towards the top of nearly every defensive statistic the past few seasons.
Sanders, who was injured in the first game against Tulsa last season and missed the next two games, finished the 2020 season earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention. He finished the season with 2,007 passing yards on a 62.8% passing completion rate, 252.9 yards per game, and 14 passing touchdowns. After sacks, he finished with 269 rushing yards on 101 carries with two touchdowns.
As for Rodriguez, he finished the 2020 campaign as an All-Big 12 second teamer, as well voted team captain by his teammates. He’s one of just six seniors from last year’s team who decided to come back for an extra year of eligibility due to COVID-19.
He finished with 82 total tackles this past season, 57 of which were solo stops, including 7.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, five quarterback hurries and three pass breakups.
