STILLWATER – Oklahoma State guard Josh Sills was named to the 2021 Outland Trophy preseason watch list. He’s one of 80 offensive and defensive linemen across college football, and one of just eight Big 12 players, named to the list on Tuesday morning by the Football Writers Association of America.
Sills transferred to Oklahoma State from West Virginia prior to the 2020 season and made a major impact almost immediately. He played a majority of his time at left guard, six games, but due to injuries in the room, he also started one game at left tackle and the final four games of the season at right tackles.
His performance earned him first team All-Big 12 status by the Associated Press, as well as honorable mention by the Big 12 coaches. According to the Oklahoma State stat book, Sills enters the 2021 season as the most experienced offensive lineman on the team as he’s played 38 career games and having started in 35 of those games.
The Outland Trophy winner is chosen from three finalists who are a part of the FWAA All-America Team. The recipient of the trophy will be announced at The Home Depot College Football Awards in December and the official presentation will be made at the Outland Trophy Awards Dinner in Omaha, Nebraska, on Jan. 12, 2022.
