Oklahoma State Makes Top 4 Cut For Pop Pop Isaacs

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is in the mix for a top-40 point guard in the 2022 class. Richard “Pop Pop” Isaacs took to Twitter Monday afternoon to announce his top 4 schools, which include Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Texas Tech and UNLV.

He whittled his more than 20 offers down to just four, offers including Arizona, Arkansas, Florida State, Gonzaga, Iowa, Kansas, OU, TCU and Texas A&M among others.

Isaacs is a 6-2, 180-pound point guard out of Coronado HS in Henderson, NV, a city just to the Southwest of Las Vegas. He’s a four-star prospect and ranks as the No. 37 overall recruit in the 2022 class.

Isaacs announced this past weekend the transfer to Coronado, but he played for Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, UT this past season. Wasatch went 18-7 overall in 2020-21, with Isaacs helping lead the way with 14.0 points and 1.4 rebounds a game, as well as 2.4 assists.

He was in Stillwater the first few days of June on an official visit, which he spoke with Rivals’ Krysten Peek about a few weeks later.

“That visit was amazing, honestly,” Isaacs said. “Coach Mike is just such a genuine person. It’s not all about basketball with him. He asks about you, like ‘How are you doing?’ It’s the little stuff that he does that just makes you feel like family with him. It’s like a big family over there, and I love it over there. You could tell everybody really loves each other.

“You know it’s different when they only had one person enter the transfer portal. When they told me that, I was like, ‘OK, it’s a different atmosphere over here.’ I really like Oklahoma State a lot.”

Mike Boynton and Co. are still in the mix to land five-star guard Shaedon Sharpe, four-star guard Alphonzo Billups and three-star guard Quadir Copeland, who’s announcing his commitment on Aug. 10.

The Cowboys recently landed the commitment of Quion Williams, a three-star wing out of Mansfield (TX) Legacy.
