Cade Shoots Lights Out From 3-Point Range, Drops 24 Points Against the Knicks
STILLWATER – I really don’t like to miss the opportunity to write about something important right away because A.) It deserves the proper amount of attention and B.) it also needs to go out in a timely fashion.
I had to help move my grandmother out of her house and into my aunt and uncle’s house on Saturday, so I need to apologize in advance for not writing about Cade Cunningham’s impressive performance against the Knicks on Friday sooner, but better late than never.
The former Oklahoma State star has been getting more and more comfortable with each passing game in the NBA’s 2021 Summer League in Las Vegas, and Friday’s game against the Knicks was the best yet. He led the Pistons to their first win of the summer, 93-87, in which he posted 24 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
Oh, he also went 8-of-14 from the floor and 7-of-10 from 3-point range.
There were plenty of plays during his time in Stillwater where Cade left people scratching their heads at how he was able to get a bucket to fall in heavy traffic. Well, he gave us one of those moments against the Knicks when he made a rather impressive bucket in the paint with defenders draped all over him.
“Any time the game is close or in crunch time,” Cunningham told Pistons’ writer Keith Langlois after the game. “I kind of feel like a magnet from my hands to the ball. I want the ball in my hands. My teammates trust me. I’m going to keep bragging on my teammates. It was a big-time win and that’s what we needed.”
Through the first three games of the Summer League, Cade’s averaging an impressive 18.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He’s also shooting a blistering 50% from 3-point range.
