Oklahoma State Offers JUCO Safety from Palm Coast, Fla.
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State has offered 2022 safety prospect Marquise Gilbert from national champion Hutchinson Community College. The 6-3, 190-pound Gilbert is well traveled and will have two years to play two seasons following his upcoming season with the Dragons. Gilbert is originally out of Palm Coast, Fla. and started out at Bethune-Cookman where he played in three games in 2018 and was a red-shirt. Gilbert had three tackles with two of those against powerhouse Jackson State.
He left Bethune-Cookman for Hutchinson and proved to be an excellent cover safety with his athleticism and his length. He had two interceptions last season to go with 12 tackles.
Prior to his offer from Oklahoma State on Thursday night (Aug. 19) he had offers from Charlotte, East Carolina, Middle Tennessee State, Troy, and Abilene Christian. Not necessarily notable schools, but for Oklahoma State Gilbert would fit a precise role.
Oklahoma State brought in safeties Kendal Daniels, Lyrik Rawls, and Ty Williams in this most recent recruiting class. In the 2022 class they will be looking for an older safety as there are five seniors at the position currently.
