Cowgirls Go to Norman and Continue Bedlam Dominance with 2-0 Shutout
NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma State extended its Bedlam winning streak to five games with a 2-0 victory over Oklahoma Thursday night at John Crain Field. OSU is now 2-1-0 on the season and improved to 29-9-4 all time against the Sooners, including a 9-1-1 mark since 2016.
Gabriella Coleman and Summer Chaffin found the back of the net for the 24th-ranked Cowgirls, and Evie Vitali posted her second shutout of the season with three saves.
OSU got on the scoreboard in the 18th minute when Grace Yochum and Coleman connected, with Yochum sending a ball through the box that Coleman directed to the near post from seven yards out. The goal was Coleman’s second of the season.
The Cowgirls doubled their lead in the 58th minute. This time it was a tremendous effort Summer Chaffin, as she took a pass at the top of the box from Anna Hurley, beat her defender and drilled a left-footed shot to the far post from 18 yards out to put OSU up 2-0.
Chaffin’s goal was the first of her career in a game in which she earned her first-career start, while Hurley notched the first assist of her career on the play.
The Cowgirls return to action Sunday when they host Wright State at Neal Patterson Stadium with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
