Ollie Gordon Starts Senior Season With Five TDs Accounted for and 45-27 Win
Four-star Oklahoma State commitment Ollie Gordon showed on Thursday night in the opening game of the season that moving over in the backfield for Euless Trinity was no problem as he combined for 212-yards of total offense in his debut as the Trojans quarterback and Euless Trinity opened the season with a 45-27 win over Arlington Lamar at Pennington Field in Fort Worth.
Gordon, who was a running back last season, opened the scoring with a 65-yard touchdown run and a 7-0 lead for the Trojans. The next series Gordon got loose again this time for 31-yards and a touchdown to make it 14-0.
“We haven’t changed much with Ollie at quarterback,” said Euless Trinity head coach and former high school head coach in Oklahoma Chris Jensen.
The change is with Gordon at quarterback that allows Gary Maddox to play running back.
“They either gotta key in on me or Gary (Maddox),” Gordon told the Dallas Morning News after the game. “It is hard to stop both of us.”
Gordon was 3-of-6 passing for 76-yards and he made the score 28-7 when he hit Kedric Corbin with a 24-yard touchdown pass before halftime. Later in the game Gordon threw his second touchdown pass, a 47-yard strike to Jaquon Black.
Later in the fourth quarter, Gordon had his third touchdown on the ground with a one-yard scoring run. On the night he had eight carries for 136-yards. Hopefully, Gordon and Euless Trinity saved some explosive offense as they will need it next Friday on the road at Austin Westlake.
