Pokes In the NFL: Preseason Week 3

STILLWATER – It was the final week of preseason action in the NFL as guys are fighting to try and earn a spot either on the 53-man roster, or any number of practice squads across the league.

There were a few guys who really made an effort to put some quality footage out there this weekend, including two members of the 2021 draft class: Tylan Wallace and Rodarius Williams.

I believe both guys will make their respective 53-man rosters, but it never hurts to put out some great plays, including one’s first NFL touchdown.

Tylan Wallace: Baltimore Ravens

Late in the third quarter of the 37-3 blowout of the Washington Football team, Wallace hauled in a 10-yard pass for his first professional touchdown.

Wallace finished the night with three catches on three targets for 27 yards and a touchdown.

The Ravens kick the regular season off on the road against the Las Vegas Raiders for the first Monday Night Football Game of the season on Sept. 13. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. CT on ESPN.

Vincent Taylor: Houston Texans

Vincent Taylor had one of the best games of his career on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Bucs. In a 23-16 loss, Taylor recorded three total tackles, one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit, one fumble recovery and 0.5 sacks. Oh, and he also recorded a blocked field goal.

Easily one of the few highlights we’ll see from Houston this season.

They start the season hosting Trevor Lawrence and Jacksonville with a noon kick on CBS on Sept. 12 (check your local listing.)

Dillon Stoner: Las Vegas Raiders

Dillon Stoner absolutely made a case on Sunday to, at the very least, make the Raiders’ practice squad. He led the Raiders in receiving with three catches on six targets for 69 yards, including a 32-yarder.

As mentioned above, the Raiders host the Ravens for the first Monday Night Football game of the season on Sept. 13. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. CT on ESPN.

A.J. Green: Cleveland Browns

There haven’t been too many reasons for Oklahoma State fans to cheer for the Cleveland Browns over the years, but corner A.J. Green is giving them one. He led the Browns in tackles in the 19-10 win over the Falcons on Sunday. He recorded seven total tackles, four of which were solo stops, and one pass break up.

The Browns will travel to Kansas City on Sept. 12 for a 3:25 p.m. CT kick on CBS (check your local listings.)

Rodarius Williams: New York Giants

Williams had a solid outing in the 22-20 loss to New England. He recorded four total tackles, two of which were solo stops. He was targeted three times and forced two incompletions.

The Giants host the Denver Broncos on Sept. 12 with a 3:25 p.m. CT kick on FOX (check your local listings.)

Matt Ammendola: New York Jets

Don’t you just love it when a game ends in a tie? The Jets and Eagles finished with a 31-31 tie on Friday night, but it wasn’t because of kicker Matt Ammendola. Ironically against Philadelphia, “Philly” Ammendola was 1-for-1 on FG with a 31-yarder, and 2-for-2 on extra points.

The Jets also hit the road to start the season as they’ll face Chuba Hubbard and the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 12. Kickoff is scheduled for noon CT on CBS (check your local listings.)

Tyron Johnson: Los Angeles Chargers

Tyron Johnson led the way in receiving for the Chargers in the 27-0 loss to Seattle. He hauled in four catches on nine targets for 41 yards.

The Chargers will take on Washington on the road with a noon kick on CBS on Sept. 12 (check your local listings.)

Chuba Hubbard: Carolina Panthers – James Washington: Pittsburgh Steelers

Chuba Hubbard had a solid final preseason game in the 34-9 rout of the Steelers as he carried the ball 10 times for 35 yards and had three catches on four targets for 15 yards.

James Washington failed to record any catches and Mason Rudolph did not play.

As mentioned above, Carolina hosts the Jets on Sept. 12 at noon on CBS and Pittsburgh travels to Buffalo for a noon kick on CBS against the Bills (check your local listings.)

Not yet, but we'll know by today as it's the final day of cuts. We have heard Cam Murray was cut by the Cardinals and I don't think he's landed on any practice squads. We'll have an article out once everything becomes finalized.

Nice to see Ammendola might have a shot. Kid was underrated and under appreciated IMO. Very steady kicker overall!
