Wide Receiver Gets Depth Boost With Martin Back and Running Back Loses One
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is getting a boost at wide receiver as they had three players return to active practice this week and are suited up and ready for duty in the Big 12 Conference opener against Kansas State. The most critical of the returnees is preseason number one on the depth chart at the “Z” position. Tay Martin is back after catching six balls for 107-yards and a touchdown in the opener against Missouri State. Also, returning at the receiver position are freshmen Jaden Bray and Blaine Green.
This was first reported by the Cowboy Radio Network.
Bray played in the Missouri State and the Tulsa game and caught six passes for 136-yards and a touchdown. Bray had some critical chain moving receptions in both games. He missed the Boise State game with a foot injury. Blaine Green has been out since fall camp but is back for first time duty. The 6-1, 215-pound Green is the bigger of the two four-star recruit pass catching freshmen twins out of Allen, Texas. He is anxious to get some action.
His twin, Bryson injured his hand in the Boise State game and after making five grabs for 57-yards and a sensational touchdown on a fade against Tulsa he is out for a game or two. He’s doubtful against K-State.
Previously injured receivers Langston Anderson (broken foot) and Braydon Johnson (medical condition) remain sidelined.
Running back will be missing a couple of players as Dezmon Jackson is out and LD Brown is also going to be missing with an injury. That leaves leading rusher and hero of the Boise State win Jaylen Warren and Dominic Richardson. That makes freshman speedster Jaden Nixon a possibility to get playing time.
The Cowboys are healthy on the offensive line but have lost a couple of Cowboy backs as preseason starter Logan Carter has been out all season and now Quinton Stewart is out as well.
The defense remains fairly healthy, which is fortunate. Safety Jason Taylor II is still filling in for Tre Sterling, who head coach Mike Gundy announced after the Boise State game is out for the season with an injury.
