STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's men's and women's cross country teams hosted the Big 12 Championships at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course on Friday with both the Cowboys and Cowgirls sweeping the team titles on their home course.
The accomplishment marked the second time OSU has swept the conference championships on its home course, also completing the feat in 2015.
Additionally, OSU became the first team to sweep the men's and women's Big 12 cross country championships since 2018.
"It was awesome today, the races really tightened up (with the wind) and they became much closer than we hoped for," Coach Dave Smith said. "(The scores) were probably the closest they've been at a site for both men and women that I can remember."
On the men's side, the Cowboys defeated second-ranked Iowa State to win their second-straight Big 12 Championship.

Isai Rodriguez led the way for the Cowboys in the men's 8k, placing second overall with a time of 23:56.3. Right behind Rodriguez were Alex Maier and Ryan Smeeton, who finished third and fourth after posting times of 24:14.1 and 24:17.4, respectively.
Ryan Schoppe and Victor Shitsama also placed in the top 10 with sixth- and ninth-place finishes, posting times of 24:23.5 and 24:30.3, respectively.
Shea Foster, Isaiah Priddey and Rory Leonard also contributed to the Cowboy team win, all snagging spots in the top 20.
The men's team dominated the race, placing five runners in the top 10 and nine in the top 21.
Meanwhile, the Cowgirls squeezed out a tight, one-point victory over Iowa State to claim their first Big 12 title since 2019.
Taylor Roe led the charge in the women's 6k for the Cowgirls. Roe finished third with a time of 20:48.8. Molly Born posted a fourth-place finish, putting two Cowgirls in the top five.

Kelsey Ramirez and Gabby Hentemann were not far behind with sixth- and seventh-place finishes, posting times of 21:09.9 and 21:13.3.
Clarissa Morales, Rilee Rigdon and Sivan Auerbach were next for the Cowgirls, finishing 15th, 16th and 20th. The Cowgirls grabbed four spots in the top 10 and seven in the top 20.
"Going down the home stretch, it was nail-biting time for sure," Smith said. "Every little place counted obviously and I'm really proud of the girls coming through."
Up next, the Cowboys and Cowgirls will travel to Coralville, Iowa, to compete in the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships for an opportunity to qualify for the national championships in Tallahassee, Florida on Nov. 20.
