OSU Wins Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase Opening Game, 80-58 Over UMass-Lowell
It was a solid start to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Classic for Oklahoma State as they rolled to an 80-58 win in the opening game against UMass Lowell.
Next up on the slate is NC State on Wednesday, November 17. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on the CBS Sports Network.
With the win, the Cowboys move to 3-1 on the season.
Sophomore guard Bryce Thompson led the way in scoring for the Pokes as he finished with 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field, 4-of-6 rom the free throw line. He also dished out for assists and had two rebounds.
In fact, there were five Cowboys who scored double-digit points on the night, Thompson, Moussa Cisse and Bryce Williams each scored 12 points, and Avery Anderson and Keylan Boone scored 11 points each.
This was a solid bounce back game for Anderson as he scored a combined eight points in the previous two games.
Even though the Cowboys led the entire game, it really was a tale of two halves for the Pokes as they went into halftime with just a 10-point lead, 36-26. They turned up the pressure in the second half to finish with a 22-point lead, but fouls and turnovers were an issue for the Pokes. They fished the game with 19 turnovers, the same number they forced on the defensive end, but they out-fouled the River Hawks.
MA Moncrieffe fouled out of the game, while Cisse, Donovan Williams and Bryce Williams all finished with three fouls.
The Pokes did, however, out-rebound the River Hawks, 37-27, with 28 of those boards coming on the defensive end of the floor. They also scored 44 of the 80 points in the paint.
