Watch: Mike Boynton Addresses the Media Following 96-66 Win Over Charleston

STILLWATER – It was a great night for Basketball in Stillwater Monday as the Pokes rolled to an easy 96-66 win over the College of Charleston.

Cowboy head coach Mike Boynton addressed the media following the game, which featured the most blocks in a game (16) by an OSU team since a game against OU in Feb. 1989. It also tied an all-time team high.

Game Flow

After a back-and-forth first eight minutes, the Cowboys were able to jump out to a 22-15 lead with the help of Bryce Williams, Avery Anderson III, and Bryce Thompson who combined for 18 of the team's first 22.

The Cougars were able to slowly get back into the game and take a 34-32 lead with under three minutes in the first half but, the Cowboys were able to retake control of the lead with an 8-0 run to finish the half to take a 43-36 lead into the break.

Oklahoma State was able to come out of the break strong, extending its seven-point halftime advantage to 16 before the first media timeout.

OSU was able to run away with the game following a dunk show led by a Bryce Williams. The momentum fueled the Cowboys to a 96-66 victory.
Game Notes

The Oklahoma State defense was able to force Charleston into eight of its 16 first half turnovers before reaching the seven-minute mark in the first half. Coming into the game Charleston was averaging only 13 turnovers per game.

OSU was also able to convert on these by scoring 34 points off turnovers over the course of the game.

The 43-36 halftime lead for the Cowboys gave the Cougars their first halftime deficit of the season.

Bryce Thompson recorded a new career high in points with 15 on 4-6 shooting from three. Avery Anderson and Bryce Williams added to the scoring when each recorded season-highs with Anderson III scoring 15 and Williams scoring 13.

Oklahoma State had six total players score in the double-digits which marked the first time this season, and the first time since Iowa State in January of 2020.

The Cowboy centers made their impact known on the defensive end as Moussa Cisse recorded a career high in blocks with 6 and Kalib Boone recorded 5 of his own. The team as whole totaled 16 blocks which is the most in all of college basketball this year and tied the school record set in 1989 vs. Oklahoma.

Isaac Likekele tied Tony Allen for 20th in Oklahoma State's all-time steals leaders at 134 career steals.

The Cowboy defense holding the Cougars 66 points marked the first time that Oklahoma State has held each of its first six opponents to under 70 points since the 2014-2015 season.

The win made Oklahoma State 4-1 all-time vs. Charleston.

Team Streaks

The 43-36 halftime lead on Sunday marked the fifth time in six games that the Cowboys had taken a lead into halftime.

OSU has forced at least 10 turnovers 136 times under Mike Boynton

The Cowboys have outscored their opponents in the paint seven of their past nine games. OSU was also able to hold Charleston to 18 points in the paint which solidified its streak of holding all their opponents to less that 30 points in the paint.

They've also had 20+ points off the bench in nine of their past ten games dating back to last season

OSU has made at least one three-pointer in 703 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 13, 2001, which is the 24th longest current streak in college basketball.
