The Oklahoma State Win ...

  • Marked its fourth over an opponent ranked in the AP Top 25 this season. To this point, only Georgia and Alabama have four AP top 25 wins.
  • Made the Cowboys the only FBS team with two wins over opponents ranked in this week's CFP Top 10.
  • Marked the Cowboys' fifth win over an opponent with a winning record this season.
  • Secured a finish alone on top of the final Big 12 regular season standings for the first time since 2011.
  • Set up a rematch with No. 8 Baylor in the Big 12 Championship Game next Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
  • Set a school record for most home wins in a season with seven. OSU has won six home games in nine previous seasons, most recently in 2016.
  • Marked the 14th time in school history and the sixth time since 1940 (1940; 1945; 1957; 1984; 2011; 2021) that OSU has finished the season with a perfect record at home.
  • Made it 14-5 in its past 19 games vs. AP Top 25 teams.
  • Marked the Cowboys' ninth win over an AP Top 10 team since 2008 and its first since 2018.
  • Made it 13-1 in its last 14 games overall, dating back to the 2020 season.
  • Gave it an eight-game winning streak in Boone Pickens Stadium, matching the fifth-longest home winning streak in school history and the longest since a nine-game streak from 2012 to 2013.
  • Marked the third 11-win season in program history (2010 and 2011).
  • Made it 11-1 for the second time in program history.
  • Marked Mike Gundy's 35th career win vs. AP Top 25 opponents. Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney are the
  • only other active coaches with more wins over AP Top 25 teams at their current schools.
  • Marked Spencer Sanders’ 23rd win as Oklahoma State’s starting quarterback and moved him into a tie with Brandon Weeden and Zac Robinson for third on OSU’s career wins list for starting quarterbacks. Only Mason Rudolph (32) and Mike Gundy (28) have more.
  • Marked the fourth win in school history in a game between two teams ranked in the AP Top 10.
  • Improved Mike Gundy's record in Big 12 games to 91-56.
  • Made it 147-67 in its history when playing as an AP-ranked team.
  • Made it 135-38 in its history when playing as a higher AP-ranked team than its opponent.
  • Made it 7-2 in its past nine games when both teams are ranked in the AP Top 25.
  • Improved it to 29-22 vs. AP ranked teams since the beginning of the 2011 season.

Postgame Notes

  • From the end of the second quarter through the beginning of the third quarter, Oklahoma scored 16 quick points. To get those 16 points, the Sooners needed to gain only 14 yards of offense. OU started one drive on the Cowboy 14-yard line after an interception just before halftime. The Sooners recorded a safety on OSU’s first offensive snap of the third quarter, then scored a touchdown when the Cowboys muffed a punt that OU recovered in the end zone.
  • After that sequence, OSU’s defense produced these results on the Sooners’ next eight drives to close the game: punt, punt, fumble, punt, punt, punt, turnover on downs, turnover on downs.
  • Brennan Presley’s 100 yard kickoff return in the first half tied a school record and makes him just the third Cowboy ever with a 100 yard kickoff return touchdown, as he joined Barry Sanders who did it three times and Justin Gilbert who did it twice.
  • Linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez finished with 11 tackles, two sacks and three tackles for loss. Defensive end Collin Oliver contributed two sacks as well, including the game-clincher on fourth-and-10 on Oklahoma’s final possession.
  • Linebacker Devin Harper had 10 tackles and four quarterback hurries.
  • Spencer Sanders’ 37-yard touchdown run in the third quarter matched the longest rush of his career.

Noting the game itself

  • Saturday marked only the fourth AP top 10 matchup ever played in Stillwater.
  • It was just the third Bedlam Series contest played at any site in which both Oklahoma State and Oklahoma were ranked in the top 10 of the AP poll.
  • The 20 combined wins for the Cowboys and Sooners tied for the most ever entering a Bedlam game (2015).
