On the day of a whole lot of recruiting coverage with the early signing period, we have some more recruiting coming your way, but this time in the class of 2023.

Rueben Owens, who is from El Campo, Texas the top running back in the lone star state and the No. 2 overall running in the ‘23 class has included Oklahoma State in his newly released top 10. Joining the Cowboys are Oklahoma, Florida, Baylor, LSU, USC, Texas A&M, Houston, Georgia and Texas.

Owens, who has coined himself as the “Black Unicorn” is 5’11 and is around 190 pounds. Even as a sophomore, Owens holds 22 offers. He is on the cusp of earning a 5th star.

In his current sophomore season, Owens played in 11 games. In those games, Owens has carried the ball 140 times for 1,511 yards and 22 touchdowns. That is a whopping 10.8 yards per carry and 137.4 yards per game. He also added 5 receptions for 114 yards and 1 touchdown. His El Campo team made it to the second round of playoffs but eventually lost.

Reuben Owens may not be a name many of you are very familiar with but he has been fond of Oklahoma State for quite some time. I spoke with Rueben back in June about his interest in Oklahoma State and he told me “when the dead period ends and they allow us to [unofficially visit], I will be in Stillwater.”

I spoke with Rueben again when he announced he was going to release a top ten and here is what he told me.

“I like where the program is at what they are doing in the Big 12, being at the Big 12 is a big plus. Coach John Wozniak, really have had a chance to talk to him or anyone from the staff cause I’m in season they are too. But can’t wait to get the opportunity to head to Stillwater check them out in person. Hopefully it can be this year or the beginning of 2021.”

Just yesterday, Rueben went to Twitter and said “I will be committing soon, I'm ready to join a family.” He also added that “National Signing Day got me thinking. I'm bringing ballers with me wherever I sign to and we coming to compete for ships. Class of 23 is very special, it will take a special program to land us.”

Landing Owens not only gives you one of the best prospects in the nation but also would give you a huge recruiter for not only that class but would recruit for the classes before and after him.
