Luke Hasz Follows Bixby's Record State Championship with Decommitment from OU

EDMOND – After Bixby won another state championship in Class 6A-II with the 63-14 win over Edmond Deer Creek we spoke with 2023 stand out jumbo athlete and tight end prospect Luke Hasz and he said he was going to celebrate the championship and then reconsider his recruiting situation, which was currently being a commit to the University of Oklahoma.

“I’m going to go home for a couple of day and figure it out with my parents, and then have something to say on Twitter or whatever,” Hasz told me.

He didn’t take long as Saturday the 6-3, 220-pound Hasz put out on his Twitter account with a simple message that he was de-committing from the University of Oklahoma. The implication was he was simply re-evaluating after the coaching departure of Lincoln Riley from Oklahoma to USC.

Now, Oklahoma State’s interest has picked up on Hasz, who would seemingly be a strong fit for the Cowboy back position they have, which is a hybrid tight end/fullback position that lines up everywhere from wide receiver to h-back to inline tight end to fullback or wing. The entire Oklahoma State offensive coaching staff including coordinator Kasey Dunn, Cowboy backs coach Jason McEndoo, offensive line coach Charlie Dickey, running backs coach John Wozniak, and quarterbacks coach Tim Rattay were at the Bixby win on Thursday night to see Cowboy commit and early signee Braylin Presley but they were also looking at Hasz.

Hasz didn’t have a catch on Thursday, but he had some impressive blocks and a long punt return early in the contest. Hasz on the season finished with 31 receptions for 406-yards and two touchdowns.

Hasz has been offered by 27 schools and besides Oklahoma State and Oklahoma that list includes Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, and Texas A&M.
