Gundy Back in Stillwater and Cowboys Meet Today, Practice Friday
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy came back into town early Thursday afternoon from being on the road recruiting. Gundy was in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex on Wednesday and saw players there like Euless Trinity athlete and likely running back at Oklahoma State Ollie Gordon. Gundy was at Frisco Lone Star with quarterbacks coach Tim Rattay to see Lone Star standout and Cowboy pledge set to sign next week Garret Rangel. Also in that picture is Lone Star offensive coordinator and quarterback coach John Fish.
Gundy was at Frisco’s newest high school Lebanon Trail to see offensive line commitments Austin Kawecki.
Thursday, Gundy was back in Oklahoma and hit several of the commitments in the central part of the state including the Shettron brothers, Talyn and Tabry, as well as Putnam City North defensive end Jaleel Johnson.
Gundy told Pokes Report that he has to get back into the office and think through the process of replacing defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, who is moving on to Ohio State. Gundy is well aware of the defense being a group project and already has the staff working on aspects or preparing defensively for Play Station Fiesta Bowl opponent Notre Dame.
The Cowboys start practice on Friday evening for the Fiesta Bowl and Notre Dame. They will also practice on Saturday with a special unofficial visit day on Saturday for the commitments and some others.
