Big 12 Championship Prediction as Young Pokes Practice and Poke Notes
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State has been back on the practice field the past two days as the older players and starters have been doing more conditioning and the practice reps have gone to the younger Cowboys. It has been fun to see receivers like Brennan Presley and Rashod Owens get so many of the reps. At running back, the hero of the Baylor win in Dominic Richardson is getting reps. Then there are some players that spent most of the season on the scout team like Zach Middleton and cowboy back Quinton Stewart.
On defense the young corners that played some in Korie Black and Jabbar Muhammad are getting lots of work along with linebackers like Na’Driam Dizadare, Kamryn Farrar, and a true freshman that showed up in fall camp and ended up playing lots of special teams in Jeff Roberson.
This was a great move by the staff to get in some bowl workouts even though an opponent is not known as of yet because these workouts would have happened anyway, but with the potential of a tighter schedule between Sunday and the bowl game these workouts might have been missed.
It’s been two days of close to an hour and a half of reps for all the younger players and back-ups. That is invaluable time that really helps considering the missed spring last March and April and the disfunctional fall camp of COVID-19 preseason.
Something else that happened today was the team took the official team picture.
On the injury and missing front … the feared knee injury was reality for defensive end Trace Ford and he will have to have knee surgery. Most of the other injured players such as safety Tre Sterling, safety Kolby Harvell-Peel are getting a chance to get healthy. Wide receiver Tylan Wallace is getting healthy and he is still with the team, but as announced cornerback Rodarius Williams has opted out Joining Chuba Hubbard, and Teven Jenkins.
As for the bowl projection … our top pick now is the Cheez-It Bowl in Orlandom Fla. on Dec. 29. Pokes Report believes we will see Oklahoma State play Miami, Fla. and we are hoping that Mike Gundy talks to his old friend Mack Brown and gets the game plan the Tarheels used to punish the Canes.
We believe the Big 12 winner will be in the Cotton Bowl and the loser will make the Fiesta Bowl. That leaves Texas going to the Alamo Bowl. Now, if the loser of the Big 12 Championship Game is relegated to the Alamo, then Orlando will take Texas. We believe the Texas Bowl will take TCU instead of Oklahoma State and the Cowboys will be im Memphis on New Year’s Eve to play Tennessee in the Liberty Bowl.
