Oklahoma State Receiver Jonathan Shepherd Enters the Transfer Portal
STILLWATER – Another Oklahoma State football player has entered the transfer portal, this time a wide receiver. Jonathan Shepherd entered the portal on Wednesday morning, a source told Pokes Report.
Shepherd becomes the 10th OSU player to enter the portal during this cycle, the seventh on the offensive side of the ball and the second receiver as he joins former three-star in the 2020 class, Matt Polk.
A redshirt junior out of Kilgore (TX) High School, Shepherd was a three-star prospect in the 2018 class. He redshirted during his first year on campus in 2018 but did see some late action in the season opener against Missouri State. He didn’t see any action during the 2019 season, and he missed the 2020 season with an injury. Then during the 2021 season, Shepherd only saw the field against Kansas, but didn’t record any stats.
While Shepherd showed promise coming out of high school, he was never able to break through the depth chart and play any meaningful snaps.
This does, however, open up another valuable scholarship for the Cowboys as the NCAA is now counting super seniors against the 85-man scholarship roster.
