STILLWATER – It was a good night on Wednesday in Stillwater as Oklahoma State posted a come-from-behind 57-56 win over TCU.

The Pokes were led by Avery Anderson III and Rondel Walker, both scoring 12 points, the latter of which hit a huge 3-pointer with less than 30 seconds and the game-tying and game-winning free throws with less than five seconds left to lift the Pokes over the Horned Frogs.

Head coach Mike Boynton met with the media following the game to discuss the 57-56 win, including a solid defensive performance by the Pokes.

(Oklahoma State athletics media relations provided the game notes below)

Game Flow

  • During a half where both teams found success on the defensive side of the ball, TCU was able to take a 15-11 lead at the midway point of the first half.
  • The low scoring first half continued as the Horned Frogs were able to maintain their lead to take 25-20 advantage into the break.
  • Coming out of the break, Oklahoma State looked to fuel offense from their defensive efforts. They did just that by forcing five turnovers in a four-minute stretch to make an 8-2 and take a 36-35 lead over the Horned Frogs at the 12-minute mark.
  • TCU answered the OSU run with a 6-0 run of its own to take a 48-40 late in the second half but the Cowboys finished the game on a 7-0 run – led by Rondel Walker – to win the game 57-56.

Game Notes

  • Oklahoma State forced TCU into 22 turnovers, the most turnovers for a Cowboy opponent in a Big 12 game this season. The Cowboys also forced 20 or more turnovers in a game this year against UT-Arlington, Prairie View A&M and College of Charleston.
  • Bryce Thompson reached double-figure scoring for the third-straight game.
  • Kalib Boone blocked 2 shots in the game Wednesday night. This marked the 92nd block of his career to move him up to 13th on the Cowboys all-time list.
  • OSU also recorded eight blocks as a team against TCU - the most for the Cowboys in a Big 12 game this season.
  • Prior to the game Mike Miles Jr. was averaging 16.9 points per game but the Cowboys were able to hold him to just 8 points.
  • Rondel Walker was the hero for the Cowboys hitting a huge three pointer down the stretch to bring the Cowboys within one and then sinking two free-throws to put the Cowboys up with only seconds left.  Walker also recorded three or more steals for the fourth game this season.

Oklahoma State’s win…

  • Made it the team’s second-straight win after the victory over No. 1 Baylor on Saturday and snapped a two-game losing streak in the series.
  • Is the Cowboys’ second-straight in Gallagher-Iba.
  • Gives OSU a 5-2 record against teams from the state of Texas this season.
  • Moved OSU to 12-3 in Gallagher-Iba in the TCU series.
  • Made the Cowboys .500 in Big 12 Conference play.

Team Streaks

  • OSU has forced at least 10 turnovers 146 times under Mike Boynton.
  • Rondel Walker recorded two or more steals for the third-straight game on Wednesday night against TCU. It matched his season long.
  • Oklahoma State used the same starting lineup (Moussa Cisse, Avery Anderson III, Bryce Thompson, Isaac Likekele and Bryce Williams) for the fifth-straight game on Saturday against Baylor.
  • OSU has made at least one three-pointer in 714 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 13, 2001, which is the 24th longest current streak in college basketball.
