Watch: Mike Boynton Addresses 64-55 Bedlam Win Over Oklahoma

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State finally snapped its four-game losing streak, and it couldn’t come at a better time with in-state rival Oklahoma in town for Bedlam.

The Pokes rolled to a 64-55 win over the Sooners on Saturday, marking the Cowboys fourth win in a row over the Sooners.

Mike Boynton met with the media following the game to discuss the performance, which included a breakout performance from junior forward/center Kalib Boone, who scored 12 points, all coming in the second half. It was also a solid day for Kalib’s brother Keylan, as well as fellow Oklahoma star, Rondel Walker, who scored 10 points and 11 points respectively.

Game Flow

  • Oklahoma was able to jump out to a 20-13 first half lead with a 9-0 run with less than 9 minutes to play in the half. 
  • Despite the early Sooner run, the Cowboys were able to answer with a 10-3 run of their own to knot the game at 23 with less than 5 minutes. That propelled them to a 29-28 halftime lead.           
  • OU regained the lead early in the second half, but OSU combatted that with a 13-2 run to take a 42-34 lead at the half’s midway point.
  • After taking the lead, the Cowboys never looked back and went on to win.

Game Notes 

  • Kalib and Keylan Boone, Tulsa natives, combined for 22 points in the win over OU on Saturday. In total, Oklahoma natives accounted for 39 of OSU’s points in the in-state rivalry win. 
  • The Cowboy defense was able to hold the Sooners to 37.7 percent shooting from the field. Coming into the game, OU ranked 15th in the country in field goal percentage shooting 48.5 percent. 
  • Avery Anderson III tied his career-high with four steals Saturday, which marked the 12th time in 13 games that at least one Cowboy has tallied at least 3 steals. The streak consists of five different players in Avery Anderson III, Rondel Walker, Bryce Williams, Keylan Boone, and Isaac Likekele.
  • Kalib Boone, Keylan Boone, Moussa Cisse, and Rondel Walker scored in double digits Saturday against OU. It marked the fifth time this season and the first in Big 12 play that Oklahoma State has had at least four double-digit scorers. 
  • Isaac Likekele moved up to a tie for 6th on the all-time assists with his six assists Saturday. His 420 career assists ties Darwyn Alexander.
  • Oklahoma State continued the trend of dominating in the paint, as they outscored OU 34-32. It marked the 16th time in 22 games OSU has scored more than its foe in the paint.

Oklahoma State’s Win… 

  • Was its fourth-straight victory in a series that dates back to 1908. 
  • Gave OSU's its longest winning streak over the Sooners since it won five-consecutive games between 1964-1965. 
  • Improved the Cowboys to 66-46 in Stillwater in the series. 
  • Is the longest-winning streak for either team in the series since 2016.

Team Streaks

  • OSU has forced at least 10 turnovers 151 times under Mike Boynton.
  • OSU has made at least one three-pointer in 719 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 13, 2001, which is the 24th longest current streak in college basketball.
  • Isaac Likekele has recorded a rebound in 115-straight games dating back to his freshman year and has recorded an assist in 56-consecutive games, as well.
