CLEARWATER, Fla. – Kelly Maxwell threw a complete game shutout to lead the No. 7 Oklahoma State softball team to a 4-0 win over No. 19 Michigan in the St. Pete Clearwater Elite Invitational Friday morning.

The win was OSU's second of the year over a ranked opponent and improved the Cowgirls' record to 5-1 overall. All four OSU runs were scored off the Wolverines' preseason All-America pitcher Meghan Beaubien as the Cowgirls picked up a quality win over a Michigan team that has won each of the last three and 12 of the last 13 Big Ten titles.

Maxwell was dominant for OSU in taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning before Michigan recorded a bloop double over the head of Kiley Naomi to lead off the inning. It was the only hit of the day allowed by Maxwell, who struck out 10 batters.

OSU never looked back after getting off to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning, sparked by a two-run home run by catcher Julia Cottrill. Offensive standouts included second baseman Brianna Evans (2-for-2 with a walk, two stolen bases and two runs scored) and center fielder Chyenne Factor (2-for-2 with a run scored and a run batted in).

As a team, the Cowgirls had eight hits and stole four bases.

Up next, OSU takes on No. 21/22 LSU today at 3 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
