STILLWATER – Oklahoma State picked up a much-needed win in a thrilling overtime win over a tough Kansas State team, 82-79.

With the win, the Cowboys move back to .500 on the season, 13-13, and 6-8 in Big 12 play.

Avery Anderson III was clutch at both the beginning and end of the overtime period. He kicked things off with a 3-point basketball for the first points of OT, followed by a dunk by Moussa Cisse to put the Pokes up 71-66.

With less than two minutes left in overtime, Thompson rose up and hit a huge corner 3-pointer to put the Pokes up 76-72, followed by another 3-pointer, this one from the win on a brilliant pass from Bryce Williams.

As he was to start overtime, Anderson III was clutch at the end of overtime. Following three made free throws by Nijel Pack to tie the game at 79, Avery rose up and hit a huge 3-pointer from the top of the key with just three seconds left to put the Pokes up three, 82-79.

Sophomore Bryce Thompson was electric against the Wildcats, both in regulation and overtime, setting a new career-high in points. He posted eight in the first half, nine in the second half, and six in overtime for 23 points. His previous career-high was 22-points set against Kansas State back on Feb. 2.

Thompson finished the day going 9-of-17 from the floor, 4-of-7 from 3-point range.

Anderson III was second on the stat sheet as he finished with 20-points on 7-of-15 shooting from the floor, 2-of-7 from 3-point range with both those buckets coming in overtime. He also finished with seven rebounds and three assists.

Kalib Boone finished with 11 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting from the floor, and 3-for-4 from the charity stripe.

Free throws were a problem for the Pokes as they shot just 63%, going 17-of-27 from the charity stripe. The Cowboys were also outrebounded 38-37. However, they shot 52% from the floor as a team and 41% from 3-point range. They also led the Wildcats for nearly 36 minutes of the game, as well as outscoring them in the paint, 30-22.

The Cowboys have a tough one next time out as they play host to No. 7 Baylor on Monday, Feb. 21. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT on ESPN.

I think we just burst their NCAA bubble.

We should have killed them in regulation if we could have hit a decent percentage of FTs.

The B12 sure is a down league this year.

Tournament results against other conferences will be the only way to determine which conference is best.

Still lots of basketball, but I'd say 7 in the tourney is still very doable. ISU & OU are probably riding the pine, but the others could all make it.

could be.... I'm having a bit of a struggle figuring the filed out this year, there seems to be a lot of pariety.

possibly due to the super senior year for some, and the transfer portal. I saw two Marquette players one on Duke's team and one on NC's team, yet Shaka Smart has Marquette playing very competitively with his replacements. Same with TT, their kids spread all over when Beard left, yet Tech is still playing really good ball with the replacements... heck we even ended up with one of the Tech kids.

It's like that all over the country.

Baylor is all beat up and has 3 starters out, I believe.

We might be able to catch them short handed again this season and eek out a win to drop their NCAA seed a bit...

I do like watching the Michael Myers kid play, that guy is and grit and pure hustle at 6-9
