Oklahoma State Looking to Continue Recent Bedlam Success
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is looking for its second-straight series sweep over Oklahoma as Bedlam part two is set to tip at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, Feb. 26 on CBS.
There have been some big wins over the Sooners throughout the years, with the 83-81 overtime win over a top-15 ranked Trae Young-led team being the most recent. However, the Pokes enter the game on Saturday riding a four-game winning streak over the Sooners, the longest streak for the Pokes in the more than 100 games played between the two programs since 1976.
The Pokes took the second Bedlam game of the 2020 season, then completed a series sweep during the 2020-21 season and will be looking to complete the sweep this year, making it five-straight against the Sooners.
“My class hasn’t lost to them yet, don’t plan on it, so I’m just trying to finish my career out here without a loss to them at all,” said Rondel Walker. “Every game is a big game, but everybody knows Bedlam is just different, especially when you’ve never lost to them. You don’t want to start this year, so it’s definitely going to be a pride game for us.”
As Rondel said, Bedlam is always a pride game, especially for the in-state Cowboys. Walker and Kalib and Keylan Boone led the Pokes in scoring the last time out, combining for 33 points in the 64-55 win back on Feb. 5. Kalib led the team in scoring in the 79-75 win over the Sooners back on March 1, 2021, with 17 points, Rondel scored 11 points in the 94-90 win in Norman back on Feb. 27, 2021, and Kalib scored 14 points in the 83-66 win in Stillwater on Feb. 22, 2020.
“So, just having that as a chip on our shoulders, like we don’t want to lose to them and it’s just a story to tell, like you never lost to little bro. It’s something we carry. Every game is a prideful game, but at the same time, this one’s different. We definitely have that in the back of our minds going into the game.”
