Cowgirls Take Two More in College Station Including Dramatic Win Over Aggies
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – A pair of complete games against Tennessee State and Texas A&M helped the Oklahoma State softball team get two wins, 5-0 and 2-1, on Sunday. OSU improved to 10-4 after winning all four games at the Reveille Classic this weekend.
Kelly Maxwell continued her stellar season in the circle against Tennessee State, allowing two hits in seven innings of work. She improved to 5-0 and matched her career high with 13 strikeouts.
“She is a really good competitor,” Head Coach Kenny Gajewski said. “I love the way she competes every time she gets the ball, every time she goes out to do anything, the competitiveness that she shows, the toughness that she shows is just really cool to see.”
The Cowgirls were able to push runs across in the first four innings of game one. A steady diet of offense led by a Taylor Tuck two RBI single and another Chyenne Factor home run helped the team score five runs.
In game two, Miranda Elish (3-3) pitched a complete game, allowing one run on four hits, tallying 11 strikeouts.
“Elish was just really good,” Gajewski said. “I mean, to come in here and do what Kelly (Maxwell) and her did here is good stuff. I think that bodes well for the future of this year and what they’re capable of.”
The first OSU run came across the board when Karli Petty scored on an error in the fourth inning. In the sixth, Kiley Naomi singled home the second OSU run with the bases loaded.
The Cowgirls won all four of its games over the weekend and will head home to host the OSU/Tulsa Invitational where they face a five game slate starting Friday, March 4.
