John Paul Richardson Featured on "You Got Mossed!"
It is down to John Paul Richardson of Missouri City Ridge Point High School and cornerback/wide receiver Raymond Gay of Red Oak as Oklahoma State signees that are still working on a State Championship to finish their high school careers. Both were big winners on Saturday as Red Oak advanced to the Class 5A Division I Regional Final beating Lubbock Coronado 42-41 in double overtime and Ridge Point beat Atascocita 55-44 in a wild game moving them to the Class 6A Division I regional final.
Raymond Gay scored a 36-yard touchdown on a pass in the second quarter for Red Oak. Meanwhile, Richardson made national news with his three receptions for 90-yards and two touchdowns in the win over Atascocita.
Richardson, the son of former Texas A&M and Houston Oilers quarterback Bucky Richardson, made ESPN Sunday Morning on their NFL Countdown Show with one of his receptions in the game as it was featured on “You Got Mossed!”
Richardson, again, scored a pair of touchdowns in the game and also had a near kickoff return for a touchdown. All of his exploits were challenged in topping “the catch.”
Here was a touchdown catch from the game.
Safe to say that Oklahoma State fans may want to get on board with the fact that their recruiting class is better than where it is ranked. John Paul Richardson is one of the reasons.
Richardson and Ridge Point play at Galena Park North Shore next Friday at 1 p.m. Jan. 1 and Red Oak has a date with Mansfield Summit next weekend as well at Globe Life Field in Arlington at 11 a.m. on Jan. 1.
Marshall Levenson was at the final playoff games for Lone Star Frisco speedster Jaden Nixon and Blaine and Bryson Green, the twin receivers from Allen, Texas. You can expect stories coming up on those signees and their last games as well as some of the 2022 prospects that Oklahoma State is recruiting.
