STILLWATER – Mike Boynton and Co. are looking to fill some holes in the roster for the upcoming 2022-23 season. What better place to look than the transfer portal.

According to a report from Travis Graf of Rivals, Oklahoma State has reached out to West Virginia transfer guard, Sean McNeil, who entered the portal on March 28.

He has one year of eligibility remaining.

This is the second time around for Boynton and Co. trying to bring McNeil to Stillwater as they recruited him out of Sinclair College before he committed to WVU.

McNeil’s played three seasons in Morgantown for Bob Huggins and has been quite good. He’s averaged 10.1 points per game in 89 games as a Mountaineers, including hitting 155 3-pointers at a 37% clip.

This past season, McNeil was second on the team in scoring as he posted 12.2 points per game on 41% shooting from the field and 37% from beyond the arc, playing and starting in 32 games. He also shot 87% from the free throw line, an area where the Cowboys have struggled recently.

The scholarship situation moving forward is a bit murky based on the NCAA sanctions placed on the team following the FBI and NCAA investigation into former assistant coach, Lamont Evans. Boynton and Co. will have to find a way to reduce the scholarship count by three over the next three season.

As it stands right now, there are currently 11 scholarship players following the departure of Bryce Williams to graduation and Keylan Boone and Donovan Williams to the transfer portal. That number includes the addition of incoming freshman Quion Williams, and would go up to 12 if Isaac Likekele decides to return for an additional season.

I would love to have him on the team.

We need someone that's more a pure PG too.
