Oklahoma State Reaches Out to Memphis Transfer Emoni Bates

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is remaining active in the transfer portal as Mike Boynton and Co. are looking to fill the last few remaining spots on the roster.

It was reported last week that Boynton and Co. have reached out to one of the top prospects on the market: former Memphis standout, Emoni Bates, who entered the transfer portal almost two weeks ago.

Bates, who was a hot commodity coming out of high school, has been contacted by a rather long list of schools, many being some of the top programs and rising programs in the country, which include Arkansas, Butler, DePaul, Georgetown, Illinois, Kansas, Louisville, Michigan and Seton Hall among others.

This past season, the 6-9 forward averaged 9.7 points 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game as a freshman. Those numbers are impressive, especially considering the fact that Bates reclassified from the 2022 class to the 2021 class at the age of 17. So, technically, Bates should be preparing to arrive on a college campus this June, rather than looking for a new landing spot.

The Cowboys’ coaching staff has reached out to a number of transfer portal prospects, including Mississippi State transfer guard Shakeel Moore and Texas transfer guard Courtney Ramey.

As it stands right now, there are currently 10 scholarship players following the departure of Bryce Williams to graduation and Keylan Boone, Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe and Donovan Williams to the transfer portal. That number includes the addition of incoming freshman Quion Williams and would go up to 11 should Isaac Likekele decide to return for an additional season.
