Presley in Bedlam Battle for Fastest Prep in the State
STILLWATER – For a long time now just about everybody from head coach Mike Gundy to speedsters like Dillon Stoner, Brennan Presley, and Jarrick Bernard-Converse have recognized Braydon Johnson as the fastest player on the Oklahoma State team. Johnson missed much of last season with a medical condition, but was cleared and rejoined the team this spring.
“I am,” Johnson answered this spring when asked who was the fastest player on the team. There are others as quarterback Spencer Sanders is top 10. Brennan Presley and John Paul Richardson can both scoot really fast.
However, there could be a new fastest Cowboy on the football field coming up this summer. That same future Cowboy could earn the reputation as the fastest prep in Oklahoma this Saturday (May 14) in Ardmore at the Class 5A-6A OSSAA State Track and Field Championships.
The younger Presley, Braylin Presley is the number two qualifier for the Class 6A 100-meter dash with a personal record in the regional at Tahlequah of 10.62 seconds. The top qualifier is future University of Oklahoma cornerback Jayden Rowe of Tulsa Union. Rowe ran a 10.47 in his regional.
This could be a really serious race on Saturday!
As for fastest Cowboy, Braydon Johnson ran a 10.44 his senior year at Arlington Bowie, but the personal record was wind aided. He did have a 10.60 in the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. After the showdown in Ardmore between Presley and Rowe then we may have to have a showdown at some point this summer. On a very warm day where both runners can get really loose.
Also, in Ardmore Presley, who had a 22.09 that qualified him for the 200-meter final is not running there and will compete in both the 4x100 relay with Bixby (42.57) and teammates Jakeb Snyder, Tyson Williams, and Cale Fugitte; and in the 4x200 relay (1:29.67) with teammates Miles Hall, Cale Fugitte, and Dylan Hasz.
Meanwhile, last weekend at Catoosa in the Class 2A-4A State Track Championships Oklahoma State offensive line signee Davis Dotson of Berryhill finished eighth in the Class 4A Shot Put with a throw of 46-feet 4.5-inches. Dotson is a strong kid that should report around 6-6, 300-pounds at the first of June.
