Bundage Declares for the NFL Draft

STILLWATER – The originator of the Edmond Santa Fe pass rush bridge to Oklahoma State won’t be around to make it a threesome of former Wolves rushing opposing quarterbacks in Stillwater as linebacker/defensive end/edge rusher Calvin Bundage announced that he will leave Oklahoma State and make himself available for the NFL Draft this spring.

Bundage could have stayed for a “super senior” season in 2021 and would have had the chance to play again with fellow Santa Fe alum and defensive end Trace Ford and then play for the first time with the latest addition to the Santa Fe to Oklahoma State pipeline in recruiting with Collin Oliver set to arrive this spring in Stillwater.

Bundage could have benefitted by staying. The speedy 6-2, 220 pounder is known as a player with loads of physical ability, but he missed all the 2019 season with a back injury. He came back in the 2020 season and showed he was healthy, but the question is where do you play him and how do you best use him?

I believe Bundage is an edge rushing specialist in the NFL and that is a lot of what he was doing late in the season. He led the Cowboys with seven sacks and he had 8.5 tackles for loss and just had 19 tackles overall. Issues that Bundage had in his Oklahoma State career were penalties and some discipline with assignments. Many of those were corrected this season as he showed much improvement although he did have a costly third down offsides penalty in the Cheez-It Bowl win over Miami, Fla.

Bundage’s career numbers added up to 148 total tackles, 23 tackles for loss, and 11.5 sacks.
