Cowgirls Roll Past Texas Tech, 75-48
STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team tipped off the new year on Saturday with a 75-48 win over Texas Tech to improve to 3-0 in league play for the first time since the 2009-10 season.
The Cowgirls raced out to a 12-4 lead behind three 3-pointers in the early going from junior Ja'Mee Asberry. OSU held Tech to a 4-of-19 effort from the floor in the first to lead, 17-9. Senior Natasha Mack controlled the boards in the quarter, pulling 10 rebounds.
Asberry continued her impressive showing in the second quarter, pouring in 10 of the Cowgirls' 21 points in the period to finish the half with 19 and stake OSU to a 38-24 lead at the break.
The Cowgirls opened with the first five of the third quarter to and held Tech to a 3-of-14 shooting effort in the period to extend the margin to 55-33 heading into the final 10 minutes.
Tech opened with the first six of the fourth quarter to get within 16 before junior Kassidy De Lapp hit back-to-back layups to extend back to a 20-point margin.
Asberry finished with a career-high 28 points on an 11-of-17 shooting effort, including a 6-of-6 effort from beyond the arc.
Senior Natasha Mack finished with her fourth double-double of the year, tallying 11 points and 16 rebounds to go with six blocks.
Sophomore Lauren Fields added 10 points to go with four rebounds and three steals.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on Jan. 6 when they travel to Fort Worth to face TCU.
