Oklahoma State Lands Virginia Tech Transfer Pitcher Ivy Rosenberry
STILLWATER – Kenny Gajewski and Co. continue to add talent out of the transfer portal as Oklahoma State is bringing in Virginia Tech transfer pitcher, Ivy Rosenberry.
Rosenberry is the second of two transfers in as many days as the Cowgirls signed UAB transfer, Sophia Page. As a freshman, Page started in 24 games, appearing in 42, and hit .239 on the season, recorded 11 hits and scored six runs. She also recorded a .504 OPS and drove in six RBIs.
During her freshman season at Virginia Tech, Rosenberry was solid in the circle as she recorded 27 strikeouts to just four walks, allowed 53 hits and 21 earned runs in 48.0 innings and finished with a 3.06 ERA.
She saw her playing time drastically reduced her sophomore season, playing behind All-American Keely Rochard and freshman Emma Lemley, one of the main reasons for her transfer. She started in just two games this past season, playing in just 19 innings and finishing with a 2-0 record and a 5.16 ERA, which includes 18 strikeouts and nine walks.
According to an article from Robert Niedzwiecki of The Winchester Star, Rosenberry has family in Ardmore, OK, another factor which played into her decision to transfer to Oklahoma State. However, the Cowgirls’ three-straight trips to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City played a huge role.
“Blacksburg, I wasn’t too happy there anymore, and it was time for a change,” Rosenberry told The Winchester Star. “After speaking with coach [Gajewski] a little bit, he just gave me a real good opportunity, almost too good to pass up, just to play at a program that has a chance at winning the World Series over the next few years.”
This is a solid pick up for Gajewski and Co. with the Cowgirls losing both Morgan Day and Miranda Elish to graduation. They also added Alabama transfer pitcher Lexi Kilfoyl in early July. She finished her junior season in 2022 with a 9-3 record and a 2.36 ERA, which included 79 strikeouts and 32 walks, but missed the final 11 games of the season with hip and foot injuries.
All-American Kelly Maxwell returns for her senior season and soon-to-be sophomore Tatum Clopton is set to move into a new role.
