Antwine Gets Sack in His First NFL Game Experience
Former Oklahoma State defensive tackle Israel Antwine was contacted quickly after the 2022 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars and signed with the team as an undrafted free agent. He was treated like he was a drafted player and has done well throughout the minicamp and OTAs right on into training camp. Then in the Jaguars first preseason game against Las Vegas in Canton, Ohio Antwine delivered similar results as the teams top draft pick. Early in the game, defensive end Travon Walker from Georgia broke loose from the outside and got a clean path to light up Raiders starting quarterback Jarrett Stidham.
Antwine came in late in the second quarter and was more than holding his own. Then in the early third quarter Antwine took a rush path through the A gap and the center and exploded out of a block and put quarterback Nick Mullins on the turf for a sack. Antwine then popped up and did cranked his arm up toward the sky in celebration. The former Oklahoma City Millwood and Oklahoma State three-year stater is not just being noticed, but he produced on stage.
Antwine gets a head start on preseason play as some other Cowboys that have been doing well in NFL camps such as Lions linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez, Steelers running back Jalen Warren, and 49ers wide receiver Tay Martin will get their first game action next week.
