Oklahoma State Moves Up in Rankings Following Jamyron Keller Commitment

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State landed its second commitment in the 2023 class on Sunday evening: combo guard Jamyron Keller out of Ellison HS in Killeen, TX.

Following the commitment, the Cowboys’ 2023 recruiting class moved up to No. 12 in the nation, according to the 247Sports rankings.

It marks the fourth top-25 recruiting class for Mike Boynton and Co. While the 2021 class isn’t included in the “official” rankings because it was nothing by transfers, I think it’s safe to say the impact Moussa Cisse, Bryce Thompson and Tyreek Smith had on the season gives the Pokes one of the best ‘21 recruiting classes during the cycle.

Keller, a three-star ranked No. 159 in the 2023 class, joined four-star center, Brandon Garrison. Garrison is out of Del City (OK) High School and is ranked as the No. 52 overall prospect in the 2023 class, the No. 6 overall center and the No. 1 ranked recruit out of Oklahoma.

In fact, how Garrison is ranked by 247Sports, 0.9780, he’s just a few ticks away from being ranked as a five-star prospect. Now, I know those aren’t given away easily, but it goes to show just how talented Garrison is.

With OSU seemingly set to lose its two centers after this season, Kalib Boone to graduation and Moussa Cisse most likely to the NBA Draft (not guaranteed, but a good possibility,) I’d expect Boynton and Co. to pursue another big man in the transfer portal after this season.

They’ll also lose at least five guards to graduation, Avery Anderson III, Chris Harris Jr., Caleb Asberry, Russell Harrison and John-Michael Wright. So, while they’ll need to figure out how to reduce by three scholarships over the next couple of years, they’ll still have a handful of spots to fill and I’d imagine they’ll utilize the transfer portal there as well.
