Postgame Notes

  • Tanner Brown tied his career high with four field goals in a single game against Texas Tech. It is also tied for the third most field goals made in a game in program history.
  • Brown improved to 8-of-8 on field goal attempts this season after converting attempts of 42, 22, 34 and 24. Brown also continued his streak of consecutive PATs made, having converted 62 attempts in-a-row.
  • The Oklahoma State defense recorded 14 tackles-for-loss against Texas Tech. That is tied for the sixth most in a game in program history and most in a game since Nov. 18, 2017, when OSU had 14 TFL against Kansas State.
  • The Oklahoma State defense faced 62 plays and gave up 347 total yards in the first half against Texas Tech. In the second half, the defense held Tech to 180 yards and seven points.
  • With the Cowboys trailing 31-23 midway through the third quarter, the OSU defense held the Red Raider offense scoreless on their final six drives of the game, that included three turnovers on downs and an interception.
  • Spencer Sanders now has 29 wins as OSU's starting quarterback, moving him into second all-time, trailing only Mason Rudolph’s 32 wins.
  • On the second offensive play of the game for the Cowboys, Sanders completed a 32-yard pass to Bryson Green for a touchdown. The 32-yard score tied a career-long reception for Green and marked his fourth score in five games this season.
  • Sanders passed Mike Gundy in career pass completions, moving him into third all-time in program history. He also moved into third place on OSU’s all-time list of touchdowns responsible for, passing Brandon Weeden with a passing and rushing touchdown in the first quarter.
  • Sanders entered the game ranked No. 4 in the FBS in points responsible for per game and No. 11 in the FBS in total offense per game. He added 18 points responsible for and 353 yards of total offense against Texas Tech.
  • Sanders finished with 56 rushing yards today, to bring his career total 1,806.
  • Bryson Green surpassed his previous career-high for receiving yards in a game (83) in the second quarter. He finished with 115 yards on five catches, marking the first 100-yard receiving game of his career.
  • Texas Tech ran a total of 104 offensive plays, the most against an Oklahoma State team since Nov. 21, 2015.
  • Oklahoma State has scored a touchdown on its first possession in three consecutive games, and in four of five games this season.
  • Mason Cobb snagged his first career interception at the 2:15 mark of the third quarter, setting up the Cowboy offense at the Texas Tech 19-yard line with the game tied at 31.
  • Jason Taylor II set a new career high with 10 tackles in the game. He also had one tackle-for-loss and a pass breakup.
  • Jabbar Muhammad set a new career high with three pass breakups against Texas Tech. He also had had six tackles and 0.5 tackles-for-loss.
  • In his first game with extended playing time, Cam Smith set a career high with four tackles. He also recorded his first pass breakup on a fourth down stop in the fourth quarter.
  • Dominic Richardson’s 7-yard touchdown run gave OSU a 10-point lead with 2:27 left in the game. The score was Richardson’s fourth of the year and he has now rushed for a touchdown in four of five games this season.
  • Jaden Bray’s first action of the season came in the first quarter. His first reception of the season went for 24 yards on the first drive of the third quarter.
  • Oklahoma State’s second-quarter scoring drive of 16 plays, covering 68 yards in 5:15 is the longest scoring drive of the season in terms of plays. It is the third scoring drive of the season lasting more than five minutes for the Cowboys.
  • Through five games, OSU has scored 16 touchdowns on drives lasting two minutes or less this season. For comparison, the Pokes had 17 touchdown drives in under two minutes all of 2021.
  • Through five games, Oklahoma State has had 23 passing plays go for 20 or more yards.
  • The Oklahoma State defense has recorded 51 tackles for loss through five games this season. For comparison, OSU had 39 tackles for loss in the first five games of the 2021 season.
  • Brock Martin’s two sacks against Texas Tech tied a career high for the senior and gave him the team lead in sacks with four on the season.
  • Thomas Harper set a new career-high in tackles with eight, including six in the first half.
  • Trace Ford recorded his team-leading fifth pass breakup of the season on a third-down near the goal line to force Texas Tech into a field goal with 35 seconds to go in the first half.
  • Oklahoma State trailed at the half for the first time this season. Mike Gundy’s career record when trailing at the half is now 29-52.
  • Brennan Presley has recorded at least one reception in 19 of the past 20 games, dating to Dec. 29, 2020.
  • Oklahoma State’s game captains were Spencer Sanders, Xavier Benson, Sean Michael Flanagan and Braden Cassity.

  • Made it 5-0 for the second straight season and for the sixth time in the Mike Gundy era.
  • Improved its school-record home winning streak to 12 games.
  • Improved its regular season conference winning streak to seven games, matching the third-longest streak in school history and the longest since the seven-game streak from Oct. 1 - Nov. 19, 2016.
  • Improved its record against Texas Tech to 24-23-3 and its record against TTU in Stillwater to 14-8.
  • Improved Mike Gundy's record against Texas Tech to 14-4.
  • Improved Mike Gundy's record in Big 12 games to 93-56.
  • Improved Mike Gundy's record in home games to 87-27.
  • Made it 19-2 in its past 21 games overall, dating back to the 2020 season. It would mark the third time in school history that OSU has won at least 19 games in a 21-game stretch.
  • Made it 153-68 in its history when playing as an AP-ranked team.
  • Made it 140-39 in its history when playing as a higher AP-ranked team than its opponent.
  • Made it 85-17 in its past 102 games vs. opponents outside of the AP Top 25, dating back to 2010.

Too bad as backfield has started to seemingly come together that we lose Daniels for almost a full game between this and next week. Hopefully this gets everyone's attention, especially his. The high hit wasn't needed at all to accomplish a sack.

Agreed....

I think it was more "spearing" than a "high hit" though.... he put his head down and used his helmet as a weapon, an that crap needs to be removed from the game.

I would support stronger penalties... if you do it twice (in a season) then you get 3 game suspension, if you do it more than twice then you are suspended for the year.

the kids need to learn that you cannot use your equipment as a weapon against the opponent.
