STILLWATER – A week ago the Oklahoma State preseason media availability featured the pair of transfer guards in John-Michael Wright and Caleb Asberry. Both players admitted they had not played before with a seven-footer, and they were excited to play with the Cowboys’ Moussa Cisse.

The 7-1 rebounder and shot blocker extraordinaire has worked hard to improve his offensive skills, which around the basket were already pretty solid. Cisse averaged 7.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last season, and he is set to be much better this season. Both players said they loved throwing the ball into the big man and were even more excited when Cisse spits it back out to them for an open jumper.

Wright averaged 17.4 points at High Point last season and proved he could play against Division I major competition with solid games against the likes of Notre Dame and Michigan State.

“Floor general,” Bryce Thompson injected when asked about Wright. “Floor general,” agreed center Moussa Cisse. “I like him. I feel like Coach Mike did a good job and everybody got a lot better. B.T. (Thompson) got a lot better and Avery (Anderson) got better, but John-Michael went through the roof. A confident John-Michael, he knows how to play the game. You’re not going to rush him. He is going to control the game at his own pace. He plays defense. He knows how to shoot the ball and this season is going to be exciting. We’ve been doing the work together and this is going to be a good season.”

Cisse is money inside.

Back to Wright’s excitement about playing with Cisse. Those passes inside with the big man in good position are automatically assists. Cisse feels that way.

“I’m telling you that John-Michael knows how to pass that ball,” Cisse added with a huge smile on his face. I’m excited to play with him. He is a great player.”

When it comes back out from inside, the same thing is true, damn good chance for a made three-pointer

“That’s the mutual connection,” Cisse added. “Let’s get it.”

yeah baby, this is music to my ears, and something I haven't heard at OSU for a while...

when was the last good floor general? Juwan Evans? maybe Marcus Smart before him? (not Cunningham)

Likekle was good in fast break, but not as effective in the set offense.

Who am I missing, and who else is excited to have a floor general

Boynton needs a good season to remain off the hot seat. At this stage of rebuilding the program, all he really needs to do this season is finish in the top half of the conference and make it to the NCAA tournament. If not, the seat gets a lot warmer for the following season. Maybe the AD looks at this differently?
