Postgame Notes

• Spencer Sanders threw for 391 yards against Texas, marking the seventh 300-yard passing game of his career and moving him into a tie for third with Taylor Cornelius in career 300-yard passing games.
• Sanders set a career high with 57 passed attempted against Texas, tied for the fourth most in a single game in program history. It also moved him past Brandon Weeden and into second place on OSU’s career list for pass attempts. He also tied a career high in completions with 34.
• Sanders entered the game ranked No. 5 in the FBS in points responsible for per game and No. 12 in the FBS in total offense per game. He added 12 points responsible for and 434 yards of total offense against Texas.
• In his four career games against Texas, Sanders has accounted for 1,420 total yards and nine touchdowns, which is 355.0 yards per game.
• Sanders now has 30 wins as OSU’s starting quarterback, trailing Mason Rudolph’s 32 wins for most all time at OSU.
• Oklahoma State ran 98 offensive plays in the game, which is the most in a game since Sept. 24, 2016, and the third most in a game in OSU history.
• Oklahoma State finished the game without being penalized for the first time in program history.
• After giving up 351 yards of offense in the first half, the Cowboy defense held Texas to just 36 yards in the third quarter and 172 total in the second half. OSU held Texas to a field goal in the second half and forced six punts, a missed field goal and two interceptions.
• Jason Taylor II set a career high with two interceptions in a game. He is the first Cowboy to have multiple interceptions in a game since Kolby Harvell-Peel on Nov. 16, 2019.
• Entering today’s contest, Quinn Ewers had completed 67.7% of his passes this season and only thrown two interceptions. Against the Oklahoma State defense, Ewers went 19-of-49 (38.7%) and was intercepted three times.
• Bryson Green’s 41-yard touchdown reception to give OSU the lead with 3:09 to go in the fourth quarter was the longest reception of his career. It also pushed him over 100 yards receiving for the second time this season and marked his fifth game with a touchdown reception this season. Green finished with a career high 133 yards on five catches.
• Tanner Brown moved to 14-for-15 on field goal attempts this season, converting on attempts of 48 and 40 yards. Brown’s streak of 16 consecutive field goals ended in the second quarter, which was the longest active streak in the country and is tied for third in OSU history.
• Brown continued his consecutive PATs made streak, which now stands at 71 and is the seventh-longest streak in program history.
• Stephon Johnson Jr. tied his career high in receptions (4) and set a new career high with 60 receiving yards in the first half alone. He finished the game with six receptions for 90 yards.
• Dominic Richardson rushed for three touchdowns in the first half against Texas. He is the first Cowboy to have three rushing touchdowns in a half since Jaylen Warren did it in the first half against TCU on Nov. 13, 2021.
• Richardson’s three touchdowns tied a career high dating to Dec.12, 2020 against Baylor when he was a true freshman. It also marked his first game this season with multiple rushing touchdowns and third of his career.
• Jaden Nixon’s rush of 51 yards on his first carry of the game in the second quarter is the second longest rush of the season for Oklahoma State and the second rush of over 50 yards in his career.
• Through six games, Oklahoma State has had 35 passing plays go for 20 or more yards.
• The Oklahoma State defense held Texas to 3-of-17 on third downs (17.6%). The Longhorns entered the game converting on 43.9% of third downs this season.
• OSU has scored 18 touchdowns on drives lasting two minutes or less this season. For comparison, the Pokes had 17 touchdown drives in under two minutes all of 2021.
• The Oklahoma State defense has recorded 59 tackles for loss through six games this season. For comparison, OSU had 48 tackles for loss in the first seven games of the 2021 season.
• Trace Ford recorded his first sack of the season in the first quarter.
• John Paul Richardson set a career high with seven receptions to go with 63 yards.
• Brennan Presley has recorded at least one reception in 21 of the past 22 games, dating to Dec. 29, 2020.
• Three Cowboys made their first career starts against Texas, including Cam Smith, Stephon Johnson Jr. and Collin Clay.
• In his first start, Clay set career highs with five tackles and a tackle for loss.
• Oklahoma State’s game captains were Spencer Sanders, Tyler Lacy, Jason Taylor II and Tanner Brown.
