Oklahoma State Lands Top-Ranked 2023 Wrestler Christian Carroll
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State wrestling’s 2023 class just got a lot better as John Smith and Co. landed the top-ranked prospect in the country, Christian Carroll.
Carroll took to Instagram on Monday to make the announcement.
Carroll, who’s currently competing at 220-pounds, is out of New Prairie, Indiana, and is projected to wrestle at heavyweight once he arrives in Stillwater.
As others have documented over the past few years, Carroll’s recruiting process has been an interesting one. He originally committed to wrestle for Illinois back in Nov. 2021, before flipping to Penn.
Carroll made the U20 World Team in Greco-Roman this past summer, finishing in 12th. He’s also a two-time Super 32 champion, as well as the 2021 Junior freestyle national champ.
This is a mega cap to OSU’s already stellar 2023 recruiting class as John Smith has brought in No. 4 Brayden Thompson (184) out of Illinois, No. 22 Cael Hughes (133) out of Stillwater, OK, No. 32 AJ Heeg (184/197) out of Edmond, OK, and No. 63 Jersey Robb (197) out of Bixby, OK.
The Cowboys also hold commitments from Sam Smith (133) out of Stillwater, OK, and Jayce Caviness (133-141) out of Bixby, OK.
