Tanner Brown Tabbed a Groza Award Semifinalist
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State kicker Tanner Brown was named one of 20 semifinalists for the 2022 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award, which was announced Thursday by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.
Brown has been one of the best kickers in college football this season. A senior out of Saugus, California, Brown’s one of just five FBS kickers with at least 16 field goals and a success rate of better than 90%, according to Oklahoma State Athletics media relations.
In eight games this season, Brown is 15 of 16 on field goal attempts, with a long of 52-yards. He’s also made five from at least 40-yards, with nine of the 15 coming from at least 34-yards. Brown is currently scoring 10.1 points per game, which is good for No. 8 in the FBS among all players.
Brown was tabbed back-to-back as the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week following the Texas Tech and TCU games, having made eight-straight field goals between the two games. In doing so, he joined former OSU kickers Quinn Sharp (2012) and Larry Roach (1982) as the only three players to complete such a feat in program history.
He’s also made an impressive 36 of 36 extra points so far this season, giving him 72-straight made extra points, which accounts for every one of his PAT attempts since arriving on campus prior to the 2021 season. That ranks for seventh-long in program history.
