Regardless has the horrendous rushing game does not justify a bad OL comment…
It's not a matter of me "being challenged", it's called discussion. If you have something to add then do so, but simply stating "I think they're bad" doesn't really add much to the discussion.
The horrendous rushing game seems to be a reflection of the bad RB group, IMO (probably a combination of subpar RB, OLine having positions that need shoring up, and bad schemes).
We know the OLine had issues, that is not part of the discussion, per se. Many of the better players missed significant time, specifically Woodward. Others were injured and out also. Etienne was a new starter, and while improved from 2021, still had some moments when some of the better rush DEs got the better of him.
How bad was the rushing game in 2021 when Warren was in, and the drop when he was out?
How about the rushing totals dropping like a rock whenever Hubbard went out?
Coincidence?
Personally, I think our OFFENSE is bad, and the OLine is only one part of it, and NOT the only culprit.
Next year's OLine has promise, at least as of this moment. We'll see what transpires.
it may not be YOUR discussion, but that is the discussion i was commenting on and you had to jump in and take in the direction you felt it needed to go.
The point is, we have had talented RB's in out stable the last several years.
Being a former OL, i watch the OL almost every play. I see them wiff on blocks, late getting off the ball and plain and simple get manhandled.
Do they have some good moments sure. Are they talented, sure, but for our scheme or lack thereof, leaves me personally wanting for much more.
you point out Warren, glad you did. He is an NFL caliber RB. He made a TON of people miss and his yards after contact were unbelievable. and we had 1 NFL talent OL o that squad (transfer in).
I will give you that our stable THIS year was subpar...but because of the scheme...again my opinion.
This scheme does not fit the mold of a Dom Richardson, Chris Carson, Keith Toston type power back. it is more filtered toward a scat back, one move and up field. (Warren, Hill, Hunter type back).
like i said before...sometimes when you lack talent, you can scheme around it and again, in my opinion, this OC or Gundy, whoever you want to blame, cannot do that.
Also, lets talk about QB...Spencer was running for his life most of his career. but he was also very inconsistent. when he is on, Heisman type play, but when he is off, just ****ing horrible There is no in between. OL play? Just him? TBD...lets see him get behind and good OL and see what he can do...might not even happen...or may not in some of our eyes.
So if it is a discussion, lets not say you are dead wrong, or any of that...lets talk...I just feel you are attacking everyone and from the get go and its really unnecessary. You can be wrong and still be civil...goes for me too.
