Recruiting Update: Weekend Went Well and Waiting for Results, Iman Oates Says Close
STILLWATER – As we reported on Saturday the visit weekend with eight official visitors in Stillwater over the weekend (Dec. 9-11) went really well. The reports are one thing, but the scoreboard only lights up with the confirmation of a commitment from one of the visitors themselves. Then there are visitors from previous weeks close to making a decision. We have our eyes on two defensive linemen. NEO A&M All-Conference defensive tackle Iman Oates text us that he is close and he is finishing up at NEO strong in academics. We also know that Putnam City defensive end Taje McCoy is close to announcing his school destination.
From this weekend, Kennedale, Texas linebacker Poasa Utu with his 98 total tackles and 33-tackles for loss gets your attention and he is already committed and confirmed that he was having a great time and he and his family were very happy.
The same came from University of Tulsa transfer and two-time All-American Athletic Conference linebacker Justin Wright. Wright told us that he would be heading to Arizona to practice with the Cowbiys before the Guaranteed Rate Bowl. In fact, the bowl officials were also in Stillwater visiting on Friday and Saturday.
Wright was there with University of Tulsa defensive end transfer Anthony Goodlow, originally out of Del City and Goodlow’s father was there as well. Goodlow is reportedly between Oklahoma State and TCU. He also received offers from USC and UCLA.
Now the transfer portal trio of Kent State offensive tackle Savion Washington (6-8, 325); Washington State wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling (6-3, 205); and Western Michigan running back Sean Tyler (5-8, 185) were all impressive and the reports we got were the visits went well. We are waiting for responses from all three.
There were also two other high school visitors in Manor, Texas linebacker Ike Esonwune, who was very impressive, and Wolfforth (Frenship), Texas All-American center Isaiah Kema. Kema plays in the Adidas All-American Game next week at The Star in Frisco, Texas. Both players were still working their way to making a decision.
We are monitoring all of them.
Oklahoma State is also set to host visitors next week and that could include a transfer portal quarterback. If they take one we are guessing that it will be a player with only one-year of eligibility left. It would be a quarterback like the one that left in Spencer Sanders that would be looking at a COVID season left.
Candidates that fit that bill include Virginia’s Brennan Armstrong, Boston College’s Phil Jurkovec, Western Kentucky’s Austin Reed, Pittsbrugh’s Keedon Slovis, West Virginia’s J.T. Daniels, Tulsa’s Davis Brin, and Indiana’s Jack Tuttle.
