Oklahoma State Picks Up More Portal Gold in Anthony Goodlow

STILLWATER – Former Tulsa defensive end Anthony Goodlow has told Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State staff that he is going to transfer to Stillwater and play for the Pokes.

This is a huge pickup to go along with his teammate at Tulsa, linebacker Justin Wright, on the defensive side of the football. The 6-4, 286-pound Goodlow is versatile with his power and strength combined with the athleticism that allowed him to play safety his junior season at Del City High School. His coach at Tulsa, Phillip Montgomery, calls him one of the most squared away and disciplined players to play for him at Tulsa and that Montgomery would have tried hard to get him if the defensive line group wasn’t as loaded as it is at Auburn where he is now the offensive coordinator.

As it is, Oklahoma State had to beat out TCU where Goodlow’s former defensive coordinator is currently coaching. Goodlow will have one-year to play as he will use his COVID year granted by the NCAA. So far, he has played 48 college football games and started 22 of those.

Goodlow had 44 tackles last season for Tulsa with 8.0-tackles-for-loss and 2.0-sacks. He broke up two passes and had four quarterback hurries. In the 2021 season he exploded for 7.0 tackles-for-loss and 6.0-sacks for negative 33-yards. He also recovered a fumble

In the 2020 season he had 32-tackles with 5.5 tackles-for-loss, and 4.0-sacks. He forced a fumble and broke up a pass. He played primarily on special teams in 2019 and he red-shirted in 2018.

At Del City High School Goodlow had 105 tackles, 30-tackles-for-loss, and 19-sacks. He also forced three fumbles. As a linebacker and defensive end as a senior he was the District Player of the Year. Playing for Mike Dunn with the Eagles and former OSU player Robert Jones as the defensive coordinator Goodlow was a safety as a junior.

He made an official visit to Oklahoma State on Dec. 9-11 along with Wright, who had already committed. Goodlow visited TCU right after Oklahoma State.

“I really like it here and Oklahoma State and there is a good chance I will be here,” Goodlow told me at practice while he was on his visit.

He graduated from Tulsa with a degree in Organizational Studies.
