Oklahoma State Gets Portal Prize in Cornerback Kenneth Harris

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State and head coach Mike Gundy may have been moderate in their NCAA Transfer Portal acquisitions in the past, but they are going full speed this December. Just Thursday the Cowboys learned that starting cornerback Jabbar Muhammad had added his name to the transfer portal. This weekend the Cowboys got a late confirmation that Arkansas State starting cornerback Kenneth Harris, also offered by Memphis and Mississippi, wanted to come in on a visit. Harris was there this weekend and now will apparently be in Stillwater the next two seasons.

The 6-0, 193-pound Harris started all 12 games this past season and has played in 31 games total and started 18 games including four starts in his true freshman season in 2020 coming out of Caldwell Parrish High School in Columbia, La. This season Harris had 36 total tackles with 29 unassisted. He had 4.5 tackles-for-loss and 10 passed defended. 

For a comparison this season Pro Football Focus graded out Muhammad, a full year more experienced at 76.3 overall and Harris had a grade of 69.7. Both players have been playing since their freshman season. 

Harris played in 10 games as a freshman and started four of those. He had 24 tackles,20 unassisted and broke up two passes on the road at Kansas State.

Harris (3) has the reputation of loving football.

His sophomore season he started a pair of games and played in nine total with 11 tackles, nine unassisted, and picked off two passes.

Harris is an honor roll student at Arkansas State.

In high school he was second-team All-State by the Louisiana Sportswriters and was a two-time All-District 3-3A player at wide receiver and corner. He chose Arkansas State coming out of Caldwell Parrish High School over Memphis, Minnesota, and ULM, who all offered.
