The month of January is always a rampant time in recruiting for Oklahoma State football, not necessarily in terms of commitments, but of evaluations and offers to prospects in the 2022 and 2023 classes.
Over the past week or so, the recruiting staff has sent out several offers to prospects in the class of 2022, both on offense and defense.
Here is a rundown of some of the recruiting information for mid-January.
Tayven Jackson - Quarterback
Jackson is a 2022 4-star quarterback from Center Grove HS in Greenwood, Indiana. He stands at 6’5 185 pounds. In his junior season, he completed 113 passes on 182 attempts for 1,756 yards and 17 touchdowns with only 5 interceptions. He holds 19 offers, seven of which have come in 2021. Jackson told me the Oklahoma State offer was “amazing”. An interesting note to this recruitment is that Jacksons father played college ball with Cowboys Back coach Jason McEndoo so there is already a familiarity factor with the coaching staff which is a major positive.

De’Anthony Gatson - Running Back
Gatson is a 2022 running back from Newton HS in Newton, Texas. Last season as a sophomore, Gatson was named the District 12-3A-II Offensive Newcomer of the Year. In his junior season he backed it up by running for 2,138 yards and 30 touchdowns on 183 carries. He currently holds 5 offers, 4 of which are in the Big 12 with Iowa State, Baylor, and TCU joining the Cowboys.

Kyron Chambers - Cornerback
Chambers is a 2022 cornerback from South Oak Cliff HS in Dallas, Texas. Chambers is new to the recruiting scene, landing all 4 of his offers since Dec. 19. Oklahoma State is the lone Big 12 program to offer as of now. At 5’11 and 185, he already has a great frame to build on from a physical standpoint. South Oak Cliff is known for producing high level skills players and Chambers is next in line right now.

Ollie Gordon - Running Back
With Gordon, who stands at 6’2” and weighs in at around 205 pounds, you get a tall, well-built back who shows patience, strength, physicality and some big-time speed when the ball is in his hands. When you look at his numbers in his junior season, in which he led the Trojans to a state quarterfinal appearance, Gordon rushed the ball 209 times for a Texas 6A leading 2,083 yards along with 28 touchdowns, which ranked second in the state. I believe he would be a great fit in the 2022 class for the Cowboys.

Derrick Brown - Outside Linebacker
Brown, who is 6’5 205 pounds, is a pure speed rush specialist. He is very long and is very quick in his pursuit to get to the quarterback, which he succeeds at doing... a lot. On tape, his value does not only come on passing downs but he is extremely valuable in run defense as well. His quickness and explosiveness enable him to get in to backfield sometimes simultaneously as the ball is being is handed off. He is able to generate tackles for loss like a machine.
Bert Auburn - Kicker
Auburn was given a PWO (preferred walk-on) offer, which is common for specialists at Oklahoma State. He is ranked as a 5-star kicker. Kickers are ranked differently than the common prospect for reference. Auburn has been offered by a multitude of schools so landing his leg will be difficult but he is a gamechanger on the special teams unit.
