Las Cruces, N.M. – The No. 4 Oklahoma State softball team picked up a pair of five-inning run-rule victories at the Troy Cox Classic on Saturday, securing an 11-0 win over Cal State Bakersfield and a 13-0 win over New Mexico State.

The Cowgirls improved to 12-1 on the season.

OSU held a 9-0 lead after two innings to quickly put the CSU Bakersfield game out of reach. Virginia Tech transfer Ivy Rosenberry improved to 1-1 in that contest after giving up only two hits and no walks.

A four-run first inning was highlighted by a three-RBI double from Micaela Wark and an RBI double from Katelynn Carwile. For Carwile, it extended her hitting streak to nine games and marked her fifth straight with at least one RBI.

Back-to-back singles opened the second inning, then Tallen Edwards walked to load the bases for senior Kiley Naomi. She walked, scoring Bloodworth and extending OSU’s lead to five. Following a groundout by Wark that scored another, Carwile notched another RBI, this time with a single that scored Naomi. A two-run double from Morgyn Wynne rounded out the second inning with the Cowgirls up, 9-0.

Katie Lott’s second homer of the year took the game into run-rule territory, as she hit a two-run bomb to bring OSU’s total to 11 runs.

Rosenberry sealed the win with a scoreless fifth.

The bats stayed hot for the second game, as OSU scored five runs in both the first and second inning, immediately creating separation from the Aggies.

Becker’s leadoff single started the game, her 12th straight game with a hit and opened a perfect 3-for-3 day for the senior. Off a bunt from Edwards, Becker rounded the remaining three bases that displayed her quickness and gave the Cowgirls an early lead. Another bunt and a groundout advanced the runners to second and third with two outs. Chyenne Factor broke through with a two-RBI single, scoring Naomi and Edwards. Wynne’s second home run of the day, a two-run shot to center, extended the Pokes lead to 5-0.

Kyra Aycock got her second career start in the circle and went 5.0 innings, giving up only three hits and striking out three.

Megan Bloodworth launched her first home run of the year - a solo blast to left field - in the second inning. A double and a walk from Becker and Edwards, respectively, had two runners on for Kiley Naomi. Naomi capitalized with a three-run blast to left field, her fifth homer of the season and OSU’s third of the game. Following a walk and a single, catcher Taylor Tuck tabbed an RBI single as she brought home Factor to bring the OSU lead up to 10-0.

After a quiet third inning from both teams, OSU added to its lead in the fourth. A walk and a base-hit gave the Cowgirls two baserunners as Bloodworth stepped back to the plate. Her second homer of the game extended the Pokes lead to 13-0, as she launched a three-run blast to left that scored Tuck and Lott.

Aycock and the Cowgirls defense took care of the Aggies and secured the shutout run-rule victory, 13-0.

The two victories extended OSU’s current win streak to 10 games. In four games at the Troy Cox Classic, OSU outscored its opponents, 39-2, with three run-rule victories. Purdue transfer Becker went 8-for-12 with one RBI.

OSU returns to action tomorrow, rounding out the road trip at 1 p.m. CT against UTEP. The game is not televised, however can be heard on stillwaterradio.net with Brodie Myers on 105.5 KGFY.
