The Oklahoma State men’s basketball team is looking to keep its NCAA tournament hopes alive as the Cowboys try to make their way through the Big 12 Tournament up in Kansas City, MO.

In order to do that, the No. 7 seed Cowboys will face No. 10 seed Oklahoma in their opening round game on Wednesday, March 8. Tipoff is tentatively scheduled for 8:30 p.m. CT and will be televised on ESPNU, with the winner of the game having to face the No. 2 seeded Texas on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT.

The Cowboys completed the regular season sweep of the Sooners in early February with a 71-61 win down in Norman. The first game took place in Stillwater on January 18, a 72-56 win for the Pokes.

The Cowboys are fresh off a huge road win over Texas Tech this past Saturday, a win which not only game the Pokes their eighth Big 12 win of the season but snapped a five-game losing streak.

You’ll hear Boynton answer questions on the third match-up of the season between the Cowboys and Sooners, as well as the Cowboys keeping their NCAA tournament hope alive.

Listening to Boynton speak is exhausting. I really tire of him talking about how great the league is every time he speaks, as if that somehow justifies his record and our sub-par standing in the conference year after year. I know I'm picking on him, it just grates on my nerves. "In this league..." "In the Big 12..." "We play in the best conference in the country..." Does he honestly think our conference affiliation matters? Does he really think we'd be any better in the Big 10, Pac 12, ACC, or SEC? Really? No, we'd be middle of the pack at best to bottom third in all of those conferences, just like we are in the Big 12. We'd finish 10th in the Big 10 at best, maybe 9th with luck, and likely no better than 5th in the American, but maybe 4th with luck. I hope the heat is turned up on Boynton about 10x next year. I'm tired of us mostly sucking and being mostly irrelevant year after year after year. I hope everyone else is too. Having said that, I hope we beat the tar out of ou and complete the rich man's sweep! Then upset Texas - losing to them 3 times is a nasty taste.

Indeed, it does get a bit old hearing the same old narrative abouit B12 basketball etc. However, Boynton is not the only Coach (or non-Coach) saying it. Pretty much universally accepted the B12 basketball is exhausting to be in it.
That said, Boynton has a 'huge' amount of equity with me for a variety of reason(s) that have already been expressed by many other(s). I just see alot of situational similarities to the Baylor/Scott Drew story. It took along time for Scott Drew to become a 'good bench Coach'. Drew had to 'grow into' that role. But, from day 1 Drew was successfully recruiting 'dudes' to Baylor even with the reputational handicap hanging over their head. Eventually, Drew got it turnaround as his coaching acument caught up with the talent he brought in. Boynton has had yearly challenges to deal with from his 'Day 1'. Even, now he is handicapped with limitations on scholly issues for this year and next 2? With injuries and non-deep bench in B12 you have significant challenges other programs in league dont have. All-in-all, I'm all in with Boynton until he gets to play with a full-deck roster thru '25-26 season ...
Assuming he continues to perform on the recruiting trail ..... even Eddie did not have to compete in such a talent balance conference as Boynton ... TCU-TT-KSU-TA&M-NE-WV etc
