Game Flow

  • Tyreek Smith made back-to-back layups off two assists from Bryce Thompson to get the Cowboys’ offense started in Kansas City.
  • The Cowboys headed into the first media timeout trailing the Sooners, 7-4.
  • John-Michael Wright’s first three-pointer of the Big 12 Tournament goes down and OSU takes its first lead of the night, 8-7.
  • A 12-0 Cowboy run extends the lead to 16-7 after five scores on the last six possessions.
  • Two mid-range jumpers from Bryce Thompson continued the Cowboys’ offensive success, leading the Sooners 22-13.
  • Bryce Thompson led all scorers with eight first-half points as the Cowboys headed into the halftime break with a 26-20 lead.

  • A monstrous throw-down from Moussa Cisse after the offensive rebound gave the Cowboys a 35-28 lead with 11:30 left.
  • Another Cisse dunk is followed by a John-Michael Wright steal and fastbreak finish to put the Cowboys up 42-33 with 8:57 remaining.
  • The Cowboys took control during the final eight minutes, extending the lead to 15 at one point, and finishing off the Sooners, 57-49. The Cowboys advance to play Texas on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament.

Game Notes

  • Head coach Mike Boynton went with Caleb Asberry, Bryce Thompson, John-Michael Wright, Moussa Cisse and Tyreek Smith as the starting-five for the second-straight game after beating Texas Tech in the regular season finale.
  • Tyreek Smith made his fifth start of the season and surpassed his previous career-high of eight rebounds in the first half, snagging nine in the opening 20 minutes. Smith finished the game with 14 rebounds, seven points and one block.
  • Caleb Asberry scored a team-high 15 points, scoring in double-figures for the 13th time this season and sixth-straight game. Asberry also added a season-high eight rebounds, two shy of his career-high.
  • Asberry has made 10 three-point field goals in the Cowboys past two games.
  • Bryce Thompson led the Cowboys offensively from the opening tip, scoring eight first-half points on his way to a 12-point performance. Thompson added five assists, one short of his season-high and one block.
  • Thompson has reached double-figures in eight of his last nine games and 20 times this season.
  • Moussa Cisse made his second start since his injury earlier this season, scoring eight points with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
  • Cisse has reached at least two blocks for the 15th time this season. Cisse leads the Big 12 in blocks this season with 57, 15 more than second place.
  • Oklahoma’s 49 points were its fewest points in a game this season, and the fewest it has scored in a game since scoring 42 against Texas Tech on Feb. 22, 2022.
  • The Cowboys allowed 20 points in the first half, the second fewest allowed in any half this season (17 vs. UCF on Dec. 18).
  • The Sooners’ 20 first-half points were the fewest they have scored in any half this season.
  • OSU had two different players reach double-figure rebounds in the same game, Moussa Cisse and Tyreek Smith, for the first time since Feb. 27, 2021, in Norman against Oklahoma.
  • The Sooners are the second team Oklahoma State has held under 50 points this season. OSU held Wichita State to 49 on Dec. 17, 2022.
  • Oklahoma State’s defense has forced at least 10 turnovers in 27 of 32 games this season.
  • The Cowboys blocked six shots against the Sooners, the 18th time this season OSU has reached at least five blocks in a game and the second-straight game with six blocks.
  • As a team, the Cowboys have reached at least two blocks in every game this season. OSU leads the Big 12 with 5.0 blocked shots per game, which ranks 16th in the country.
  • Oklahoma State is 17-3 when they shoot the same percentage or better than their opponent from the field this season.
